Mary and Ginger Holladay will be coming to Europe for the first time this April as part of the 'Original Elvis Tribute' show. These shows will mark the first time that the original backing vocals of classics like "Suspicious Minds" and "In The Ghetto" can be heard live in concert in Europe. They will be doing shows in Finland, Norway, Sweden, Holland and Luxembourg. "Bobby Wood suggested us to Arjan Deelen who is creating the shows", Ginger notes. "We've worked together with Bobby for many years, but this will be our first time working with the other guys, and we are looking forward to creating a great show with them. According to Bobby and Arjan, it will be great fun creating music with them all. These shows are going to be filled with the "heart of rock n roll" because we are thrilled to be able to bring you the music of Elvis Presley, who is the King of it!".
'The Original Elvis Tribute', which also includes a.o. Duke Bardwell, Bobby Wood and Jerome 'Stump' Monroe, will be doing the following shows: Vara Konserthus, Sweden – April 7; Sibelius-talo, Lahti (FI) – April 10; Tampere-talo (FI) – April 11; Savoy Theater, Helsinki – April 12; Deichhall, Ettelbruck, Luxembourg – April 13; Elvis Cruise Stena Lines, Oslo (NO) – April 14/15; Het Paard, Den Haag (NL) – April 21; 013, Tilburg (NL) – April 22.

First Louisiana Hayride Show - 16th October 1954
The "Aloha" show was made for that reason….to show Elvis worldwide before a world tour, but unfortunately for him (and us) it never happened. At this point Elvis was very frustrated about that and this tour maybe it has been the last high level tour. Another strong point of this book is that the authors talk about the 1973 musical contest in the USA and they try to compare the Elvis musical situation with the new artists like David Bowie, Elton John and so on. Reading this I learned a very interesting thing: most of the 1973 albums in the top ten charts came from UK artists! In 1973 the only USA album that sold like them (more or less) was the Elvis double LP "Aloha From Hawaii"! Often the Elvis books that we can find all around are "only" Elvis' pictures book without any info or worse with wrong info about the concert dates or locations.
Believe me, I read a lot of time "Teenagers Hero" and at this time I'm not able to find a wrong date or location in that book and we're talking about the January , 1956 and June 30, 1956!!! A mistake is almost impossible with the Steve and Bob books as, I know, they have spent al lot of time to get the right info about the tour and all the shows. All the pictures are loaded with the 100% right facts! This is a definitive book about this great Elvis 1973 June tour and I can guarantee you that reading and seeing it you'll be stunned about how Elvis was in great shape at that time. Great shows, unbelievable voice, unbelievable jump suites. Really a must for every serious Elvis' expert. Are you ready to go on Tour with the king??? Here is it the book for you!

Duke stayed out of the spotlights for more than 30 years, so it’s interesting to hear him talk about so candidly about his association with Elvis. In the interview, the subjects that are touched upon include the famous shows at the Houston Astrodome in March ’74; his famous waterpistol fight with Elvis on April 1st, 1975; and the reason why he quit working for Elvis that same month. Duke will be touring Europe as part of ‘The Original Tribute 2010’ in January 2010, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Elvis’ birth. The dates are as follows:

Forth-coming DVD to include UNSEEN Elvis footage
It's been a year in the making, but we are almost ready to release the first
volume of Elvis, The Beauty Queen & Me, with Jeanne LeMay.
The majority of this DVD was filmed during Jeanne's trip to the UK last
year. She was captured talking candidly about her time with Elvis at
Graceland, on tour and in Vegas. She openly discusses how she was able to
enjoy a close relationship with Elvis through her friendship with Linda
Thompson, how she became a secretary at Graceland and what went on during
those years. Her memories of those times are funny, fascinating and
extremely riveting. Jeanne is a great talker and her warmth comes across
beautifully in this 80-minute programme.
Over the past few months we have been lucky enough to have tracked down and
acquired some STUNNING new 1974 cini film of Elvis, still
on the original reels!!! The team has been working hard on having the reels
digitally transferred and restored. The speed has now been expertly
corrected, the picture quality has been enhanced and the brightness and
colour has been re-worked enabling us to offer the footage in virtually
perfect quality.
We are sure that this will
be amongst the best quality amateur footage that you've ever seen of Elvis
on stage.
For the
first time you'll get to see 1974 Vegas footage captured during Elvis'
August 29th 1974 midnight show, September 1st dinner show and the infamous
September 2nd closing show (wearing the beautiful Man Tiger jumpsuit).
There's lots of karate on these clips with Red West coming on stage at one
point to help Elvis with his belt and karate gi. Elvis even knocks poor
Charlie Hodge on his backside during a length kata... Amazing stuff!
There is also be some 1973 footage shot at Graceland. This includes
a glimpse the gates, the grounds, the mansion itself and the pool area. This
is NOT the poor quality Dutch footage that has been doing
the rounds for years, but brand new footage taken from the reels and
restored by us. This is TV quality material.
We are also extremely excited to tell you that we have been
restoring some SUPERB footage (running for a staggering 13 minutes) of Elvis
in Kansas City, Missouri on the evening of June 29th 1974. This is the most
beautiful clear, close-up footage that we've seen in a long, long time with
Elvis wearing the fantastic Embroidered Eagle jumpsuit.
This 100% legal DVD is a great price (compared to other similar DVDs
released over the last few years) and will be officially released late
August. This is a factory pressed CD (not DVD-R) with a professionally
printed colour cover & insert and each DVD will arrive individually
shrink-wrapped.

The book is divided in 8 chapters filled with great photographs of Elvis during the taping of this special, production notes, session notes,etc.. The text is easy to read, right to the point and very informative. This book is a real delight and hats off to Joe Tunzi and Steve Binder for having done the ultimate book on this subject.
Fecc note : The book Elvis : Frame by Frame mentioned below and written by Bill Bram ( he wrote the text in Elvis In Tickle Me from JAT Publishing ) is also a keeper. This is extremely well researched and a real pleasure to read as well.

About The Book
Hundreds of books have been published since Elvis Presleys
death yet none have seriously documented the making of his films. Elvis spent
more than half of his career making films, yet this critical time period has
been essentially ignored by most biographers. This book investigates the making
of nine of his films, in the words of those that worked on and co-starred in
them. The author spared no expense to locate and interview hundreds of people
who worked on Elvis's films, including co-stars, movie crew members, dancers,
extras and stuntmen. Anecdotes and fascinating behind the scene accounts is the
central focus. A large portion of the book consists of direct quotations from
the interviewees, edited to create an interesting narrative of each film. It is
a running commentary on Elviss films. In addition the book contains
information obtained directly from the movie files. Decades old questions
regarding particular scenes and songs, believed to have been filmed, will be
addressed and answered. Readers will find chapters on King Creole, Kid
Galahad, Roustabout, Easy Come Easy Go, Double Trouble,
Clambake, Live A Little, Love A Little, The Trouble With Girls and Change
Of Habit. The book concludes with a fascinating chapter on the Elvis movie
that should have been: A Star Is Born.
Ten pages of rare black and white photographs or movie documentation will be
interspersed through out the book, never published, and obtained by the author.
In addition, the author scouted and found many locations, in and around Los
Angeles, used in Elviss films. Several location photos will be included in
the book as well. Elvis: Frame By Frame will be the first book to present a
detailed account into the making of Elviss films. Most importantly, the book
offers a new perspective and understanding of the most fascinating entertainer
of our time.
You can buy the book directly from the website Elvis : Frame By Frame

Dedicated to Bill
Belew.
"Elvis - The Jumpsuitology"
is the anthology of Elvis' stage outfits used during all the 1145 live
appearances from 1969 to 1977. It is first ever comprehensive DVD project
highlighting this aspect of Elvis career. The producers spent several months
on research and obtaining materials, and then spent more than 250 hours in a
professional studio for restoration and putting the DVD together.
The
first volume of the DVD focuses on the years 1969 - 1972. Theres brief, but
relevant information on each concert tour, as well as the Las Vegas or Lake
Tahoe engagements, all followed by specially assorted good quality photos of the
jumpsuits used for each tour or engagement. There are more than 250 photos (some
rare) of all the 110 versions of the suits, including the first
"Herringbone" and "Cisco Kid" suits, the August '72
"Two - Piece" suits and all others.
The
video section contains more than 30 rare clips (mostly 8 mm amateur footage) of
Elvis on stage in different suits. Every piece of film was carefully selected,
edited and professionally restored in a studio and every effort has been made to
achieve the highest possible picture quality, nevertheless in few cases
producers decided to use substandard quality material in order to maintain the
integrity of the project.

retired Shelby County Sheriff Gene Barksdale. You'll also get to meet
ex-Sheriff and Mayor Bill Morris, and even the current Sheriff, Mark
Luttrell, has had an open invite.
Jeanne LeMay, Linda Thompson friend and Elvis' Graceland secretary, will also be
there to meet the fans and to sign copies of her new book, Elvis,
Linda and Me. Along with others yet to confirm, Mike Freeman will be
signing copies of his new DVD, Elvis' Memphis. There will also be

A Unique City Tour For Birthday Week 2008
Due to the success of their city tour in August, Essential Elvis
is planning another all-day tour of Memphis on January 8th. Bigger
and better than anything offered before, the team aim to show fans a huge number
of Elvis-related sights in and around the city - and all in the comfort and
warmth of a luxury coach.
In August, a hundred excited fans were shown a total of 80 Elvis-related
places over a period of 8 hours, and everyone had so much fun. Andrew
Hearn is personally organising and conducting the tour, and will be
providing the commentary along the way. You may know that Andrew
recently released a book entitled Follow Me To Tennessee (www.followmetotennessee.com)
in which fans can learn about 125 Elvis sights in Memphis, along with accurate
facts and stories by people who experienced those places with Elvis first hand.
The tour will leave, at 10:30am, from behind the ticket office on the plaza once
the birthday proclamation on the lawn has finished. The first stop will be at
Elvis' Circle G Ranch in Mississippi, and then they'll progress towards
downtown Memphis. There will be a lunch stop downtown early
afternoon and the tour will finish back at Graceland at approximately 5pm.
There's more exciting news - EE:UK have enlisted the help of a
surprise guest, who will be coming along for the ride. This person was a
personal friend of Elvis' and rode around the city with him over many years in
the 1970s. So, you'll be guaranteed some first-hand tales of
life with the King - making this particular tour very special.
Cost is just $40.00 (just 20.00) per person.
Please reserve your places as soon as possible as seats are limited, and the
tour is expected to be very popular. Email Andrew Hearn with any
questions, concerns or suggestions at enquiries@essentialelvis.com.
The Essential Elvis team would be pleased to hear from you if you
are considering joining them for either event. It'd be helpful to
have some idea of numbers, so booking in advance would be good.

Presley is the only 1950's star to make the survey's Top 50. 1960's legends The Beatles and Rolling Stones are at #12 and #22, respectively. "Whether you are talking about his '50s rock or legendary comeback, Presley's music and image obviously has enormous staying power," added Clinton.
There might also be another reason. The 1950s are seen as a peaceful and optimistic era (even though that's not entirely true). "And after the tumultuous '60s, the '70s were practically docile, or as close to the '50s as we'd ever get," said Clinton. "Elvis reached iconic status in the '70s performing sold-out shows in Vegas when he wasn't touring. So he's directly associated with two of the better decades - at least in memory. When times are uncertain, people get nostalgic."

But still the most important thing during the year 1960 is the amazing recording sessions. We have two incredible albums from this year, Elvis Is Back and His Hand In
Mine. Elvis truly proves his ability as a performer. He conquers every challenge he is faced with and proves Elvis is back!
Elvis Is Back includes many never before seen pictures from this period. There is even some very interesting ones from the filming of G.I. Blues. Those were not used in the
Inside G.I. Blues book.
