"ELVIS: CAUGHT IN A TRAP" 10TH ANNIVERSARY

In 2002, Arjan Deelen and Laurens van Houten produced the Elvis photo-book "Elvis: Caught In A Trap", which at the time set a new standard for Elvis photo publications. The book detailed Laurens' trip to Las Vegas to photograph Elvis' August / September 1973 shows there. The elusive Laurens van Houten has always avoided publicity and he's always been guarded about his photos. Laurens did meet up with Arjan recently to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the book, and at that meeting he also expressed his dissatisfaction with those that use his photography without his permission, like for instance the recent "Fashion For A King" book. A clip from their meeting can be seen here: http://youtu.be/hjFKZO7Eh9E In this video excerpt they chat about the remarkable September 3rd, 1973 Las Vegas Closing Show -- one of the most unusual shows of Elvis' career. Laurens talks about the challenges of photographing Elvis at the Las Vegas Hilton, which included having to give the hotel staff generous tips in order to get up-close. The last remaining copies of the book will be sold at the 'Original Elvis Tribute' shows in April '12, but you can also order the book through the website: www.elvisnews.dk

Ginger Holloday Recalls Her First Meeting With Elvis

Even though it's now 40 years ago that she first met Elvis, Ginger Holladay's memories of that January 1969 meeting still remain vivid in her mind: "Yes, it was when we were recording "In The Ghetto". A crowd of men laughing and joking walked into the studio and then parted and there he was, in the center of them all. He came over and introduced himself to us (as if we didn't already know...he was such a gentleman) and shook each of our hands". At the time, Elvis was recording at American Sound Studios in Memphis. These sessions rejuvenated Elvis' career as a relevant recording artist. And he fell in love with the 'Holladay Sound': the girls ended up working on virtually every studio album he did between 1969 and '75 (16 original albums in all), and their voices were even dubbed onto some of the live recordings. "We had a sound that someone described as blood harmony, a sound that only comes if you are family", says Ginger, "Elvis liked our sound, as did Felton Jarvis, his producer for RCA".

Mary and Ginger Holladay will be coming to Europe for the first time this April as part of the 'Original Elvis Tribute' show. These shows will mark the first time that the original backing vocals of classics like "Suspicious Minds" and "In The Ghetto" can be heard live in concert in Europe. They will be doing shows in Finland, Norway, Sweden, Holland and Luxembourg. "Bobby Wood suggested us to Arjan Deelen who is creating the shows", Ginger notes. "We've worked together with Bobby for many years, but this will be our first time working with the other guys, and we are looking forward to creating a great show with them. According to Bobby and Arjan, it will be great fun creating music with them all. These shows are going to be filled with the "heart of rock n roll" because we are thrilled to be able to bring you the music of Elvis Presley, who is the King of it!".

'The Original Elvis Tribute', which also includes a.o. Duke Bardwell, Bobby Wood and Jerome 'Stump' Monroe, will be doing the following shows: Vara Konserthus, Sweden – April 7; Sibelius-talo, Lahti (FI) – April 10; Tampere-talo (FI) – April 11; Savoy Theater, Helsinki – April 12; Deichhall, Ettelbruck, Luxembourg – April 13; Elvis Cruise Stena Lines, Oslo (NO) – April 14/15; Het Paard, Den Haag (NL) – April 21; 013, Tilburg (NL) – April 22.

TWO MAJOR ELVIS EVENTS IN HOLLAND IN APRIL '12

Great news for the Dutch fans! The biggest Dutch fanclub "Elvis For Everyone" will be staging TWO major Elvis events in April 2012. Both concerts will feature "The Original Elvis Tribute 2012", a tremendous production which includes original Elvis musicians and singers like Bobby Wood, Duke Bardwell, Ginger and Mary Holladay and Jerome "Stump" Monroe. Both shows will have a different theme, each inspired by the '68 Comeback. The first one, which will take place on April 21st 2012 at "Het Paard" in Den Haag (The Hague) will be a rocking party night, and has therefore been dubbed "the standup show" (w/ the audience dancing and having fun to the music), while the concert at 013 in Tilburg on April 22, 2012 has been dubbed "the sitdown show" and will be more relaxed, with the audience seated… A good opportunity for everybody to wind down after a wild night in The Hague. Fanclub president Constatijn Zantingh (31) says: "We're very excited about these two shows. In order to keep Elvis in the limelight, we need to come up with new ideas all the time, and we all really like the idea of a 'standup show' for a wild night of fun, and a 'sitdown show' for those fans that prefer a more relaxed setup. Of course we hope that the fans will come to both shows, first to rock the night away to Elvis' music in The Hague, and then to unwind together with other fans while really listening to this great band. We will have several fantastic surprises planned for these two shows, and we really want to make both nights a one-of-a-kind celebration of Elvis' music". For more information on these remarkable shows, please visit www.elvismagazine.eu or www.elvisnews.dk

ELVIS' BOOK JUNE TOUR 1973 - short review

(review by Robert Sinclair)
Could this book to be the definitive study about the Elvis June 1973 tour? That's it! Steve Reno and Bob Rush, who already wrote the unbelievable "Teenager Hero" book in 2008, are the authors of this great new book. "Elvis, June 1973" is full of unreleased pictures mostly in great quality from one of the greatest Elvis live tour ever!
The sixteen live shows are here described under every minimal aspect and reading page after page I got the feel to be here among the fans seeing Elvis live. A lot of new and unreleased stories are loaded here and another thing that has stoned me out are the newspaper article about every show. This is very important to me as you can really understand what the musical critics though about Elvis in those days. Most of the articles are enthusiastic about the Elvis' performances and this confirm that he was really venerated and respected at that time. That was a very important moment for the Elvis' career: he had made the world famous "Aloha From Hawaii" in January and the Colonel had promised him that after that historical show he would have done a world tour….

The "Aloha" show was made for that reason….to show Elvis worldwide before a world tour, but unfortunately for him (and us) it never happened. At this point Elvis was very frustrated about that and this tour maybe it has been the last high level tour. Another strong point of this book is that the authors talk about the 1973 musical contest in the USA and they try to compare the Elvis musical situation with the new artists like David Bowie, Elton John and so on. Reading this I learned a very interesting thing: most of the 1973 albums in the top ten charts came from UK artists! In 1973 the only USA album that sold like them (more or less) was the Elvis double LP "Aloha From Hawaii"! Often the Elvis books that we can find all around are "only" Elvis' pictures book without any info or worse with wrong info about the concert dates or locations.

Believe me, I read a lot of time "Teenagers Hero" and at this time I'm not able to find a wrong date or location in that book and we're talking about the January , 1956 and June 30, 1956!!! A mistake is almost impossible with the Steve and Bob books as, I know, they have spent al lot of time to get the right info about the tour and all the shows. All the pictures are loaded with the 100% right facts! This is a definitive book about this great Elvis 1973 June tour and I can guarantee you that reading and seeing it you'll be stunned about how Elvis was in great shape at that time. Great shows, unbelievable voice, unbelievable jump suites. Really a must for every serious Elvis' expert. Are you ready to go on Tour with the king??? Here is it the book for you!

Soldier Boy 53 310 761

There are many books published about "Private Presley" but a comprehensive video documentary about our man as "Soldier Boy" is missing - until now:
Tripod Pictures Ltd proudly presents: "Soldier Boy 53 310 761" starring Elvis Presley.
We begin our journey at the Kennedy Veteran Hospital where Elvis gets his first medical examinations to determine his draft status in January 1957. Of course, the well-known solemn promise scene and the "Operation Haircut" is included, too. There are private moments where Elvis can be seen with Anita Wood at Eddie Fadal's home. Be there when Elvis leaves the troop train to enter the U.S.S. Randall; see him arriving in Bremerhaven, Germany; Private Presley is the VIP on numerous press conferences and interviews e.g. with Dick Clark / American Bandstand. Experience Elvis on the grounds of the Ray Barracks or join the "King" during his trip to Paris, France. Unfortunately, Elvis was not home when Cliff Richard was visiting Goethestrasse 14 in Bad Nauheim, but the footage proves that he tried to say ,hello'. You'll get newsreel reports & the trailer for "G.I. Blues" - Elvis' first motion picture after the army.
A special never before released clip shows the unveiling of the memorial bust which was installed in front of the ,Hotel Grunewald" in Bad Nauheim to honor Elvis' stay in that city. This factory pressed DVD is a labour of love, compiled carefully to present the full story of Elvis and his military tour of duty. The DVD also features a booklet with additional information about dates & locations of the featured clips.

Ginger and Mary Holladay join the Original Tribute tour in 2012

The Original Elvis Tribute' will be back in Europe for April 2012 but the big news this time is that the tour will be even more special with Elvis' backing-vocalists Ginger and Mary Holladay joining the band in Europe for the first time ever! Elvis' other musicians Duke Bardwell, Bobby Wood and Jerome 'Stump' Monroe will still be there along with the outstanding lead presence of Robert Washington. The Holladay sisters were amongst the leading female backing vocalists in the 60s and 70s, and their powerful voices are featured on countless hits & classics. Elvis loved their voices, and he always made sure that Felton would use the Holladays for his recording sessions. Ginger and Mary can be heard on hit-singles like 'Suspicious Minds', 'In The Ghetto', 'The Wonder Of You' and 'You Don't Have To Say You Love Me', as well as on numerous Elvis albums like 'From Elvis In Memphis', 'That's The Way It Is', the Grammy award-winning 'He Touched Me', 'Good Times', 'Promised Land' and 'Today'. Their voices were even overdubbed on live-recordings like the 'On Stage' album. For more info, please contact: deelen@elvis.dk

Stump is coming to Europe!

'The Original Elvis Tribute' will be returning to Europe less than a month from now for a series of nine high profile shows. We are very pleased to announce that we will be repeating the highly successful Madrid appearance; we will be returning there for a show at one of Madrid's hottest new venues, La Sala Live, on May 13th! I know that Duke Bardwell and Bobby Wood in particular are really looking forward to this!

We're also very happy about the latest addition in the band, Mr. Jerome 'Stump' Monroe, a member of the Elvis Presley Show from 1969 to '77, who even played drums behind Elvis on a couple of occasions (one of these shows was released recently on a much discussed '77 box-set). Johnny Christopher couldn't make the tour due to a family situation, so we booked Stump instead. We've already heard from various fans that they are looking forward to meeting one of the 'stars' of the aforementioned box-set! Stump himself says: "I'm very excited about touring with these great musicians in celebration of the greatest entertainer ever, and I'm also really looking forward to meeting the European fans".

Showdates are as follows: Mondorf Casino, Luxembourg 28/4; 013, Tilburg (NL) 1/5; Ritz, Vaasa (FI) 3 & 4/5; Tampere-talo, Tampere (FI) 5/5; Cosmopolite, Oslo (NO) 7/5; Congress Center, Poznan (PL) 11/5; La Sala Live, Madrid (ES) 13/5; Stadthalle Bad Godesberg, Bonn (GE) 14/5.

Elvis Presley – The Patriot

Elvis Presley – The Patriot: A Man's Love Of God And Country. The Summit '76: A Triumph Of The Human Spirit is a 200 page, A5 format soft cover featuring the stunning artwork of Night Rider Designs, beautiful photographs of Bob Heis, and world class photographer Manuel Chavez's never-before-published shot of Elvis flipping the "f" you middle finger to a heckler at the Summit on 28th August 1976. "The Little Girl With The Beautiful High Voice" joins Rosemary Alden, Sandi Miller and Joseph Tunzi as prominent contributors to this project dedicated to Lisa Marie Presley, the non-conforming, truth-seeking rebel.

The Patriot opens with "The Man In Black, The Memphis Flash & Hollywood Hokum (Walk The Line)" and "Academia & The Media Try, But Fail, To Paint A Patriot As A Pillhead" – 10 pages dedicated to Elvis' historic meeting with President Richard Nixon. But it's Chapter 3 that will leave many readers in a state of shock. Numbering 20 pages and entitled "The Hycodan Overdose: Thank God For Blonde Miracles… Enter Sandi Miller," it thoroughly debunks one of the most damaging drug-based allegations (he furnished prescription-strength cough syrup to a sweet, innocent teenager from San Francisco resulting in her overdose in his Palm Springs bed and emergency hospitalization) lodged against Elvis Presley.

More than five of this chapter's 20 powerful pages are devoted to Elvis: What Happened?, with two subsections written specifically as useful knowledge for Lisa Marie Presley: " 'Disposable' People In EP's Life? Providing A Deeper Understanding For LMP And Oprah Winfrey" and "EP To Whom It May Concern: 'I am not fucked up. I've got a daughter and I've got a life.' " A lot of good folks admire Kathy Westmoreland and recognize her importance to Elvis, not only in his personal life, but on stage and in the studio. On 20th March 2011, Kathy spoke with the author about this forthcoming project and also revealed the biggest heartbreak Elvis suffered in the 70's.

DL: "How much would it hurt or disappoint Elvis if Lisa Marie believed the accusations in the bodyguard book and elsewhere?" Kathy Westmoreland: "I don't believe Elvis would survive. He couldn't live. I think it would just kill him. From my heart, I'm telling you it would crush him more than anything anyone could possibly imagine."

DL: "There couldn't be anything worse happen to him than for his daughter to believe the drug accusations?" Kathy Westmoreland: "No. There could be nothing worse happen to him. I can't think of anything. There's nothing else that would hurt him more and Lisa was the only thing he worried about."

DL: "Did he pretty much say, 'What's my girl gonna think?' " Kathy Westmoreland: "Yeah. 'What's Lisa gonna think? What's gonna happen to her? What's she gonna believe?' " That was his big concern. He was just beside himself on realizing that she would be subjected to trying to figure all this out."

DL: "In all the years that you knew Elvis, Kathy, was this the most hurt – the biggest heartbreak – that you observed?" Kathy Westmoreland: "It's the biggest one. It's the one."

DL: "Do you recall Elvis asking, 'What if the public turns against me because of the bodyguard book?' " Kathy Westmoreland: "I think he did say something to that effect, but he knew that he couldn't please everybody and he would be the first to tell you that. He cared about Lisa. Knowing that Lisa would believe it and be affected by it for the rest of her life – Elvis couldn't have handled it. He'd have an instant heart attack."

Why would Kathy Westmoreland attach her stellar reputation to this soft cover? Why is Elvis' trusted friend Sandi Miller referred to as a blonde miracle? How many eyewitnesses in Houston did the author speak with? You'll find out the answers to these questions and much, much more in the 2nd installment of Elvis Presley – The Patriot: A Man's Love Of God And Country. The Summit '76: A Triumph Of The Human Spirit's Press Release!

New Estonian Elvis Biography

’Kuningas Elvis’ is the title of a new biography that has just been published in the Baltic state of Estonia. The book was written by Estonian Elvis fanclub president Tony Tuulas, who’s an attorney-at-law in daily life. It’s no coincidence that the Elvis fanclub there was founded in 1990, the same year that the reign of the communistic regime ended. “During the communistic regime all western music was forbidden”, Tuulas says, “But Elvis was nevertheless quite popular, because many of us were able to listen to him by tuning into Finnish radio stations with our antenna radios. Mind you, this was strictly forbidden and could result in a prison sentence”.

The book is a lavish hardback 192-page publication with many color and b&w photos, the story of Elvis’ life and career, an album discography from ’56 to ’77, an overview of his gold and platinum albums, a filmography as well as a chapter about the Estonian fanclub’s activities since ’90. Even though I can’t read Estonian, I thoroughly enjoyed leafing through the book, as the design and the reproduction of the photos are topnotch. For more information about this remarkable book, you can contact Tony directly at: Tonu.Tuulas@leppik.ee

LMFP – Karma 2010: A Genesis Of Rebel DNA / Elvis – Through My Eyes

“LMP – Karma 2010: A Genesis Of Rebel DNA / Elvis – Through My Eyes” is an A5 format soft cover written in memory of Mr. Vernon Elvis and Mrs. Gladys Love Presley. As you will learn in this forthcoming soft cover, somebody noticed.

This project is dedicated to the daughter who dreams of redemption for a father that worshipped the ground she walked on and with whom she shares a magical connection; who dreams about dignity being restored to the Presley family name and has never lost faith that some day it would happen. The beautiful artwork of Nightrider Designs, the special photographs of Bob Heis and publisher of the original Elvis World Phil Gelormine, to author interviews with wonderful ladies like Kathy Westmoreland, Katherine St. James and Rosemary Alden, “LMFP – Karma 2010” delivers!

Also deserving of acknowledgement is Sandi Miller for her valuable contribution. And a special thank you to Stacy, webmaster of “Presley’s Pride,” for standing beside LMFP and the rest of the Presley family.

Unbeknownst to Lisa Marie, this man has dedicated much of the last 10 years of his life to researching and meticulously documenting salient truths about her dad. Against considerable odds, a path to higher awareness was forged with useful knowledge acquired in spades. As Michael J. Fox said so eloquently: “One’s dignity may be assaulted, vandalized and cruelly mocked. But cannot be taken away unless it is surrendered.” Presleys don’t surrender. They prevail.

Elvis Death Revisited

As you know, August 16th is the 33rd anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley. Please alert your fans and visitors about our unique web site www.ElvisDeathRevisited.com The site features vintage radio broadcasts from those three days in August when we interviewed friends and family members who saw him just before he died. And you'll hear live interviews with fans at the gates of Graceland. These rare broadcasts transport Elvis fans into the “moment” as you feel the emotions experienced the day the King of Rock died. I have kept these rare interviews locked away since 1977 and only posted them on the internet this year when I decided to launch this web site dedicated to the memory of Elvis.

Bobby Wood & Johnny Christopher in Europe

The ‘Original Elvis Tribute’ show will be returning in May ‘11, and we will have several surprises for the European fans. We are proud to announce that legendary keyboard player BOBBY WOOD will be joining us this time. No doubt most of you already know that he was an integral part of the ‘American Sound Studios’ band, with whom Elvis recorded his finest albums FROM ELVIS IN MEMPHIS and BACK IN MEMPHIS, as well as hit-singles like “Suspicious Minds”, “In The Ghetto”, “Kentucky Rain” and “Don’t Cry Daddy”. It’s also quite an honour for us that Mr. Wood will be bringing his old buddy & ‘American Sound Studios’ associate, JOHNNY CHRISTOPHER. Johnny played rhythm guitar for Elvis during the STAX sessions in ’73, and also wrote / co-wrote songs for him like “Always On My Mind”, “Mama Liked The Roses” (Johnny remembers Elvis crying when he first heard this song) and “If You Talk In Your Sleep”. Johnny Christopher will be singing his own songs at the shows, just like he did on the original demos for Elvis. These shows will mark the first time ever that he performs at an Elvis show, and it will also be his first visit to Europe. This time, the ‘Original Elvis Tribute’ will have a special Memphis ’69 / Stax ’73 theme, and we all believe that this is going to be our most exciting tour yet.

Elvis Unlimited is proud to announce that our Back In Memphis concert will be a benefit concert for Myrna Smith of The Sweet Inspirations. Elvis Unlimited was the first to break the news of Myrna being hospitalized in London and then again in California where she presently is recovering.

We now can share some even more serious news about Myrna. She has suffered a stroke and is on dialysis. She will need long term care. Myrna has many medical bills and many more medical expenses are ahead due to severity of her condition. The show is during Elvis Week on August 12 at 8 PM at the Michael D. Rose Theater at the University Of Memphis. Reserved seats are 45.00 US Dollars and includes admission to the mini -convention and silent auction from 6 to 8 PM with special guests Barbara Hearn,Charles Stone, Sonny West, Sandi Pichon, Roben Jones & more.

We have spent the last month reorganizing this show to make this a complete success for Myrna. We have changed venues to a larger venue right in Memphis to accommodate more fans and  lower ticket prices. We also will have a silent auction before the show at our mini convention from 6 to 8 PM for ticket holders only. All items will directly benefit Myrna. Come down to the University of Memphis for THE concert of Elvis Week! We promise you a great show and a chance to lend a helping hand to our Sweet Inspiration, Myrna Smith!

Elvis - In A Minnesota Minute

MRS will publish its first standalone book as a limited edition only release. The 9 x 11 inch hardback book contains 100 pages in full color gloss print, featuring the photographic works of Tim Healy in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Elvis Presley show on October 17, 1976.

As the Minneapolis Tribune reported at the time, “Elvis is in as good shape as ever and, of course, as a performer on stage, singing or just fooling around, he has more charisma than a dozen other top performers combined. Will Elvis endure? Judging by the screams of the audience he's in no trouble.”

With Elvis slimmed down and performing better than earlier in the year, Tim Healy’s exclusive photographs manage to visually capture Elvis’ new-found enthusiasm effortlessly and in an uncannily realistic way.

MRS are proud to release this new look at Elvis in 1976 and all the photographs contained in the book are completely unreleased. The upcoming FTD release of ‘A Minnesota Moment’ front cover (out on 15th February), is also the work of Tim Healy.

This book will only be limited to 1500 copies worldwide and will be released on 15th February.

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fimsZQDfwWA
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqMdUWWhgEk
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGPRkA87nQY

Duke stayed out of the spotlights for more than 30 years, so it’s interesting to hear him talk about so candidly about his association with Elvis. In the interview, the subjects that are touched upon include the famous shows at the Houston Astrodome in March ’74; his famous waterpistol fight with Elvis on April 1st, 1975; and the reason why he quit working for Elvis that same month. Duke will be touring Europe as part of ‘The Original Tribute 2010’ in January 2010, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Elvis’ birth. The dates are as follows:

January 15 – 17: Club Loft 44, Warsaw, Poland (3 shows)
January 19: Malmitalo, Helsinki, Finland
January 20 & 21: Ritz, Vaasa (2 shows)
January 22: Auditorium Flog, Firenze, Italy
January 23: Rock Planet, Pinarella di Cervia (Ravenna), Italy
January 24: Effenaar, Eindhoven, Holland

Book Baby let's Play House

New Book Baby Let's Play House

Nearly thirty-three years after his death, Elvis Presley's extraordinary physical appeal, timeless music, and sexual charisma continue to captivate, titillate, and excite. Though hundreds of books have been written about the King, no book has solely explored his relationships with women and how they influenced his music and life—until now.

Based largely on exclusive interviews with the many women who knew him in various roles—lover, sweetheart, friend, costar, and family member—Baby, Let's Play House explores Presley's love affairs with, among others, Ann-Margret, Linda Thompson, Sheila Ryan Caan, June Juanico, Joyce Bova, Barbara Leigh, Cybill Shepherd, and Priscilla Beaulieu, as well as his friendships with actresses Raquel Welch, Barbara Eden, Mary Ann Mobley, Yvonne Craig, and Celeste Yarnall.

The book also spotlights important early girlfriends and the women who dared to turn him down, including Cher, Petula Clark, and Karen Carpenter, as well as two women—Kay Wheeler and Tura Satana—who taught him dance moves he used onstage.

Baby, Let's Play House, named after the 1955 song that was his first to hit the national charts and his mother's favorite Elvis recording, presents Elvis in a new light—as a charming but wounded Lothario who bedded scores of women but seemed unable to maintain a lasting romantic relationship. While fully exploring the most famous romantic idol of the twentieth century, award-winning veteran music journalist Alanna Nash pulls back the covers on what Elvis really wanted in a woman—and was tragically never able to find.
You can order the Baby, Let's Play House: Elvis Presley and the Women Who Loved Him at the on-line store.

Books Update

Coming in 2010 two new books from Teenagers Hero Publishing. The first one will be the follow up to the acclaimed and much discussed Teenagers’ Hero. The Second will be a different kind of project with focus on the June 1973 tour. Teenagers’ Hero Publishing’s is proud to announce these two new books for next year; we want to take this occasion to say thanks to all the numerous people who bought the first volume of Steve Rino’s Teenagers’ Hero book.

The book has represented something really new in the Elvis’ book landscape, receiving positive reviews for specialist, website and overall single buyers from all over world. We received some critics too, from people who expressed their opinion, comparing the book to an ordinary photo book or a biography…..for all the people who bought the book that I have appreciated, they know that we are talking of something else, we don’t want to say that Rino’s work was perfect but we do recognise that the high quality of his work showed promise of future works, more appreciated. Using the Kay Wheeler words direct to Steve << You certainly captured the 1956 ELVIS MOMENT>> this was Steve Rino’s target and our personal high. Despite s small number of the first volume remaining we afford Rino the possibility to produce the second volume dedicated to the second part of 1956. To enhance the experience provided by the first book whilst being both critic and supporter we intend the following changes:

- 200 pages, as 400 pages limited the previous book due to expensive mailing cost.
- hardcover and Full Colour book as requested by many people
- Improved quality of the photos used, due to a larger quantity of material available.
- More attention to details to allow the reader to enjoy the text without looking for error. We hope that you enjoy the result… We want to say just a few words about the second book, we have started a new collaboration with the big collector Bob Rush, Rush’s big collection of Elvis’ photo’s from 1973 to 1977 gave us the idea and the possibility to plan the pressing of a book of the June 1973 tour certainly the best moment of Elvis in 1973.

Lastly the book will keep the same size and characteristics previously listed for the teen second volume, but will be a more ordinary PHOTO book with more of 150 rare photos of the tour. We are yet to set the pressing date whilst both are still being worked on by the author. We will keep you updated with book layout and other details in the coming months. Inside the web-site we post within the month all details possible to give a more complete preview of both books…. Teenagers’ Hero Vol.1 is still available to order on the web or through your usual dealer, if you don’t yet have don’t miss the opportunity!!!

Elvis, The Beauty Queen & Me - Volume 1

Forth-coming DVD to include UNSEEN Elvis footage

It's been a year in the making, but we are almost ready to release the first volume of Elvis, The Beauty Queen & Me, with Jeanne LeMay. The majority of this DVD was filmed during Jeanne's trip to the UK last year. She was captured talking candidly about her time with Elvis at Graceland, on tour and in Vegas. She openly discusses how she was able to enjoy a close relationship with Elvis through her friendship with Linda Thompson, how she became a secretary at Graceland and what went on during those years. Her memories of those times are funny, fascinating and extremely riveting. Jeanne is a great talker and her warmth comes across beautifully in this 80-minute programme.

Over the past few months we have been lucky enough to have tracked down and acquired some STUNNING new 1974 cini film of Elvis, still on the original reels!!! The team has been working hard on having the reels digitally transferred and restored. The speed has now been expertly corrected, the picture quality has been enhanced and the brightness and colour has been re-worked enabling us to offer the footage in virtually perfect quality.

We are sure that this will be amongst the best quality amateur footage that you've ever seen of Elvis on stage.

For the first time you'll get to see 1974 Vegas footage captured during Elvis' August 29th 1974 midnight show, September 1st dinner show and the infamous September 2nd closing show (wearing the beautiful Man Tiger jumpsuit). There's lots of karate on these clips with Red West coming on stage at one point to help Elvis with his belt and karate gi. Elvis even knocks poor Charlie Hodge on his backside during a length kata... Amazing stuff!

There is also be some 1973 footage shot at Graceland. This includes a glimpse the gates, the grounds, the mansion itself and the pool area. This is NOT the poor quality Dutch footage that has been doing the rounds for years, but brand new footage taken from the reels and restored by us. This is TV quality material.

We are also extremely excited to tell you that we have been restoring some SUPERB footage (running for a staggering 13 minutes) of Elvis in Kansas City, Missouri on the evening of June 29th 1974. This is the most beautiful clear, close-up footage that we've seen in a long, long time with Elvis wearing the fantastic Embroidered Eagle jumpsuit.

This 100% legal DVD is a great price (compared to other similar DVDs released over the last few years) and will be officially released late August.  This is a factory pressed CD (not DVD-R) with a professionally printed colour cover & insert and each DVD will arrive individually shrink-wrapped.

NTSC - Region free

Elvis In Gold

We received our copies yesterday of JAT Productions's latest release Elvis In Gold. We are quite pleased with the finished product as it has the same quality of their latest books but this time center on the '50s. The photographs are not all previously unpublished such as the Ottawa shots, but many throughout the book never looked that good. There are still several unseen pictures such as the rare ones from the St.Louis concert along with numerous ones from Tacoma, Seattle and LA. It features as well publicity photos with the gold lame suit and from the different 1957 tours/ press conferences with an introductory text on each tour from our own FECC member Mike Eder. The front cover itself is a beauty and  must add Jimmy Carpenter made a great design on this project.

About a week ago JAT Publishing was nearly sold out on this title so hurry up if you want to order a copy directly from them. We only have 5 copies left for sale ( only for shipping in Canada & USA ) and anyone interested can inquire directly from FECC . There are many dealers in Europe carrying this product too.

After years constantly getting the same acts and the same songs, we believe that Elvis fans are ready for a fresh, exciting new experience – and ‘The Original Elvis Tribute 2009’ is just that. Featuring the talents of original Elvis bassplayer Duke Bardwell (181 shows with The King), Elvis-songwriter Michael Jarrett (a.o. I’m Leavin’), Award-winning Elvis-vocalist Ted Roddy, Hollywood-drummer Marc Singer (a.o. Star Wars), guitarist supreme Thierry LeCoz and backing singers Vikki Lee and Michele Jarrett, this is a show that will knock you off your feet! Many fanclub-presidents and dealers have already expressed great interest in this remarkable production, and even other Elvis-acts like Dennis Jale have already stated that they don’t want to miss this show. And with 9 shows in 6 countries in just over a week, this is also one of the most successful Elvis shows in recent years to hit Europe. No mean feat, especially when you take the worldwide economical crisis into account.

The Dutch fanclub ‘Elvis For Everyone’ will have a special surprise for the visitors to the concert in Tilburg on May 24th, a specially-produced free DVD containing a new Elvis-documentary featuring Duke Bardwell. In this programme, Duke talks freely about his association with Elvis, and even performs the beautiful ‘You And I’, a song that Elvis really loved and which Duke will perform on the May tour. As a special bonus, the DVD also contains excerpts from the last-ever television interview that Charlie Hodge did in the Benelux. A truly interesting DVD, exclusively as a free gift for those coming to the show in Tilburg. For more info, please go to: www.elvismagazine.nl

REVISITING THE MEMPHIS ’74 LIVE ALBUM WITH DUKE BARDWELL

It’s now 35 years ago that the March 20, 1974 Memphis concert was recorded, so I decided to ask bass player Duke Bardwell a couple of questions exclusively for FECC. Duke will be coming to Europe in May as part of ‘The Original Elvis Tribute 2009’, and they will be doing shows in Holland, Belgium, Poland, Norway, Sweden and Finland (see www.elvisnews.dk for more info). To prepare Duke for the interview, I sent him a copy of the FTD release ‘Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis’. On to the short questions & answers session with Duke… Have you listened to this show recently? Any observations? I listened to it this past Saturday, coming back with my trio from playing out of town….. They had never heard it before. I thought for a live recording that it was very well done….played well and mixed well….had good energy…

How did everybody in the band feel about this album? Was it a good representation of what Elvis was doing live at the time? I really don’t recall hearing from any band members after it was released with any opinions or criticisms of the album. I do think that overall, everyone was pleased to have been a part of it. I certainly know that I was. The song selection was simply and exactly what he was doing at that time….same show in Vegas…with very little variation.

Was there any criticism back then that the album cover featured a photo of Elvis’ house, and not ONE from the show? I never heard of any such criticism…..

Do people still mention the Elvis-comment from the album to you? (“Anyhow, Duke. Not talking to you personally, Duke...”) I almost never hear anything about it. In fact, if it wasn’t for you folks in Europe making something of it, I don’t know if it would ever come up again. I know EP has lots of ageing fans here in the US, but I don’t think they dial in to the archival snippits and sound bites like they do overseas…..The fans in Europe are so dedicated that they seem to be interested in any information they can get a hold of, no matter how trivial it may appear to someone else…….They still love the man, his music and everything about him.

Did you receive the special edition of this album that I sent you? Any comments? Yes I did Arjan, and thank you very much for it. That actually is the copy we listened to on the road. I was very impressed with the way it was packaged…the booklet was well done and I was very pleased to have been included in one of the photos. I thought the audio quality was excellent.

Elvis Sessions IV

Our work on Elvis Sessions IV book is already in progress although it will take awhile before its release. There are a lot of discussion about the Standing Room Only project on different sites/forums  and here's a quote from an interview done in 1993 with the late Joan Deary for Sessions II that will be featured in Elvis Sessions IV : '' Standing Room Only was never intended to include the selections recorded in Las Vegas in February or the single material that was cut in March. The final project was scrapped but my intent all along with RCA and The Colonel was to release a live album based on the best of the four shows recorded in April on tour. I even went as far as compiling my own track listing from these shows, our goal was to increase single sales and it worked. This is how it was going to be no matter what anyone else says ''....

The Teenager's hero Publishing is happy and proud to present The Book, TEENAGERS'HERO. This is the definitive book-documentary of Elvis' live performances in early 1956. With more than 400 pages, sized 30x21 and featuring 445 photos mostly unpublished and never put in the right context. The book has high quality design (soft cover 300 g, cloth binding, and 150 glossy pages), 1000 copies printed, each copy numbered. In the beginning the book was thought to be one volume only about the 1956, but due to the great quantity of material that we were able to find during in this period and also the different aspects of Elvis activity during the same year, we decided to give life to two different volumes. The first volume, has as its focus Elvis' live activity in the first six months of 1956. The author Steve Rino spent two years of research to give life to a day by day photo journal where together with a scientific approach of the day, has been put together a professional layout with relative photos taken from newspapers, magazines and his personal collection. In trying to bring to the reader a feeling of the time through images, newspaper & magazines clips we give life, we hope, to something unique and new in the landscape of books about Elvis. We are proud of the in-depth research of every detail of every one of the 180 days listed, trying to putting in the right order all information, news, photo and tales coming from this difficult research.

Inside the web-site you can have access through the links to a lot a more details about the book's contents, quality and price. The book will be available, we hope, in December. DUKE BARDWELL & MICHAEL JARRETT

Elvis’ mid-70s bassplayer DUKE BARDWELL and songwriter MICHAEL JARRETT (I’m Leavin’, I’ll Be Home On Christmas Day) now have a new website up, in order to promote the shows that they will be doing in Europe in May ’09 (Promoters are welcome to contact us now). The url is www.elvisnews.dk and it features fascinating and insightful interviews with both Bardwell and Jarrett, a host of rare shots of Duke & Elvis, an overview of the Elvis releases that Duke plays on, rare audio (including Jarrett’s original recording of ‘I’m Leavin’’, as well as a neat message that he recorded a few days ago for all Elvis fans), a column that Jarrett will do regularly for the website (with Christmas being just around the corner, Michael decided that the first one should be about ‘I’ll Be Home On Christmas Day’). Any suggestions, additions and corrections to the website are welcome. Duke is always looking from pics from his period with Elvis, so if you can help with that, then please drop us a line… See you in May!

Essential Elvis "Birthday Week  2009" Memphis City Tour on January 8th with special guest - Barbara Leigh

Andrew Hearn at Essential Elvis in the UK is planning an exciting tour for Birthday Week in Memphis.  A detailed coach tour of the ciry will commence at around 10:30am from behind the ticket office at Graceland (where the Sun Studio shuttle picks up and drops off) after the proclamation on the lawn of Graceland on the morning of January 8th 2009.

The luxury coach will immediately head out to Elvis' Circle G Ranch in Mississippi where fans will have the opportunity to stroll around the ranch house and take photographs of the famous bridge and cross, which Elvis loved so much.

The tour will then make its way back towards Memphis taking in many of the sights connected with Elvis around the Whitehaven area, including restaurants, stores, homes Elvis bought for friends and places he played football. At around lunchtime it'll stop at Collettas Restaurant where Elvis loved to eat. Andrew has arranged Elvis' favourite dish, a delicious BBQ pizza, for everyone to try, and owner Jerry Colletta (who personally served Elvis many times) will be on hand to greet the fans and tell a few stories.

After lunch the group will continue towards downtown, looking at many of the lesser-known places where Elvis once worshipped, shopped, played, recorded, performed and hung out with friends. Once the tour arrives in downtown Memphis the group will take a look at various homes, places of work and enjoy a tour the Memphian Theatre - a placed Elvis visited a great deal over many years.

Depending on time spent at the Circle G Ranch, Collettas and the Memphian, Andrew aims to show fans the whereabouts of the following places...

American Sound Studio / Arcade Restaurant / Army Draft Board / Baptist Memorial Hospital / Beef And Liberty / Bell-Air Nightclub / Blue Light Studio / Burke’s Florists / Chanaults Restaurant / Circle G Ranch / Coletta’s Restaurant / Crown Electric / Crump Stadium / Dave Wells Community Centre / Donald Furniture / Dr. Nick’s Office / East Trigg Baptist Church / Ellis Auditorium / Fire Station 29 / First Assembly of God Church / Forest Hill Funeral Home / Former Home of Gary Pepper / Former Home of Linda Thompson / Former Home of Sam Thompson / Former Home of the Thompsons / Three Former Homes of Vernon Presley / Three Former Karate Schools / Graceland Elementary School / Gridiron Restaurant / Hickory Log / Holiday Inn, Rivermont / Home on Audubon Drive / Home on Alabama Avenue / Home on Poplar Avenue / Home on Saffarans Avenue / Home on Winchester Avenue (Lauderdale Courts) / Hotel Chisca - WHBQ / Howard Johnson Travel Lodge / Humes High School / Jim’s Barbershop / Lansky Bros. Men’s Shop / Leonard’s Barbecue / Liberty Bowl Stadium / Libertyland / Loew’s State Theatre / Madison Cadillac / McDonald Brothers Co. / Memphian Theatre / Memphis Funeral Home / Methodist Hospital / Mid-South Coliseum / National Bank of Commerce / Orpheum Theatre / Overton Park / Overton Park Shell / Peabody Hotel / Piccadilly Cafeteria / Poplar Tunes / Rendezvous / Russwood Park / Schilling Motors / Southland Mall / Stax Studio / St. Josephs Hospital / St. Jude Hospital / St. Mary’s Catholic Church / Sun Studio / Supercycles / Taylor’s Cafe / Tennessee Karate Institute / The Foot Specialist / The Prescription House / Thunderbird Lounge / Trinity Baptist Church / Vicker’s Service Station / Whitehaven School / Whitehaven Shopping Centre.

So, there you have it, a very thorough and quite intense day of sight seeing in Memphis, wrapping up at around 6pm with two drop-offs in downtown Memphis and back at Graceland.

Oh, and don't forget that the gorgeous Barbara Leigh will be the guest on the tour.

You can book the tour quickly and safely on the "Events" page at www.essentialelvis.com

'68 At 40 : Retrospective Out Now

The latest project from JAT Productions ' 68 At 40 : Retrospective with a text by Steve Binder is out now. We received our copies this morning and this is definitely a keeper. The book is divided in 8 chapters filled with great photographs of Elvis during the taping of this special, production notes, session notes,etc.. The text is easy to read, right to the point and very informative. This book is a real delight and hats off to Joe Tunzi and Steve Binder for having done the ultimate book on this subject.

Fecc note : The book Elvis : Frame by Frame mentioned below and written by Bill Bram ( he wrote the text in Elvis In Tickle Me from JAT Publishing ) is also a keeper. This is extremely well researched and a real pleasure to read as well.

Elvis : Frame By Frame

 About The Book

Hundreds of books have been published since Elvis Presleys death yet none have seriously documented the making of his films. Elvis spent more than half of his career making films, yet this critical time period has been essentially ignored by most biographers. This book investigates the making of nine of his films, in the words of those that worked on and co-starred in them. The author spared no expense to locate and interview hundreds of people who worked on Elvis's films, including co-stars, movie crew members, dancers, extras and stuntmen. Anecdotes and fascinating behind the scene accounts is the central focus. A large portion of the book consists of direct quotations from the interviewees, edited to create an interesting narrative of each film. It is a running commentary on Elviss films. In addition the book contains information obtained directly from the movie files. Decades old questions regarding particular scenes and songs, believed to have been filmed, will be addressed and answered. Readers will find chapters on King Creole, Kid Galahad, Roustabout, Easy Come Easy Go, Double Trouble, Clambake, Live A Little, Love A Little, The Trouble With Girls and Change Of Habit. The book concludes with a fascinating chapter on the Elvis movie that should have been: A Star Is Born.

Ten pages of rare black and white photographs or movie documentation will be interspersed through out the book, never published, and obtained by the author. In addition, the author scouted and found many locations, in and around Los Angeles, used in Elviss films. Several location photos will be included in the book as well. Elvis: Frame By Frame will be the first book to present a detailed account into the making of Elviss films. Most importantly, the book offers a new perspective and understanding of the most fascinating entertainer of our time.

You can buy the book directly from the website Elvis : Frame By Frame

ELVIS - THE JUMPSUITOLOGY VOL. 1 - 1969 - 1972

Dedicated to Bill Belew.

"Elvis - The Jumpsuitology" is the anthology of Elvis' stage outfits used during all the 1145 live appearances from 1969 to 1977. It is first ever comprehensive DVD project highlighting this aspect of Elvis career. The producers spent several months on research and obtaining materials, and then spent more than 250 hours in a professional studio for restoration and putting the DVD together.

The first volume of the DVD focuses on the years 1969 - 1972. Theres brief, but relevant information on each concert tour, as well as the Las Vegas or Lake Tahoe engagements, all followed by specially assorted good quality photos of the jumpsuits used for each tour or engagement. There are more than 250 photos (some rare) of all the 110 versions of the suits, including the first "Herringbone" and "Cisco Kid" suits, the August '72 "Two - Piece" suits and all others.

The video section contains more than 30 rare clips (mostly 8 mm amateur footage) of Elvis on stage in different suits. Every piece of film was carefully selected, edited and professionally restored in a studio and every effort has been made to achieve the highest possible picture quality, nevertheless in few cases producers decided to use substandard quality material in order to maintain the integrity of the project.

Musical background on DVD is by fine U.K. tribute artist Heath Ashton. Special thanks to Todd Slaughter, the president of OEPFC Great Britain.
NTSC region free.
Approximate running time: 68 min.

STEVE BINDER PENS BOOK

ON THE MAKING OF THE 1968 ELVIS PRESLEY SPECIAL

This will be the definitive book on the making of the 1968 ELVIS PRESLEY television special.

JAT publishing is proud to present their latest book, 68 at 40: Retrospective, the definitive story on the making of the 1968 Elvis Presley TV Special, written by its director and producer Steve Binder.

At more than 125 pages, 68 at 40 will feature approximately 100 never before seen photos from the private collection of Timothy Mulrenan and Robert Brower along with rare documents and artifacts from Binders personal collection.

With of the 40th Anniversary of the 1968 special approaching, Binder felt it was time to pen his own book, having read so much on the special that didnt feel right with its director.  And when it came time to find a publisher, JAT was Binders only choice.

Steve explained, "Knowing Joe Tunzi personally and his JAT publishing company makes me very comfortable that I'm in good hands. I have found Joe to be a man of integrity and passion in keeping the Elvis legend alive."

Publisher Joe Tunzi offered these comments, Being able to publish a book by Steve Binder about the legendary 1968 ELVIS T.V. Special was a dream come true.

Tunzi continued, This is guaranteed to be one of the greatest books in our vast catalog.  Steve is without question brilliant in every sense of the word and one of the most talented and creative minds I ever had the good fortune to work with.  Not to mention a true gentleman.

Binder will kick-off the promotional tour for the book with a special appearance in Memphis during Elvis Week 2008.

Elvis Memories of The 68 Comeback Show

Elvis Memories of The 68 Comeback Show A Radio Promo With Steve Binder & DJ Fontana.
Packaging Elvis Presley for the "small screen" after ten years of Hollywood treatment was no easy task, The Colonel wanted "more of the same", the sponsor wanted "holly leaves and Christmas trees", and all Elvis wanted was the freedom to take care of business. A young director Steve Binder had enjoyed considerable success with a Pet Clark special, and a TV series featuring soul legends Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye, and James Brown. Elvis loved the show and warmed towards Binder's approach. His partner was former Radio Recorders engineer Bones Howe, so the chemistry was perfect. NBC Network Chief Bob Finkle gave the two young Turks a free hand, which resulted in the Colonel being stone-walled, and a sexy burlesque presentation, packed with sincerity, lust, and compassion. The 1968 Elvis Presley Christmas Special, when broadcast on 3rd December gave the network its biggest ratings victory for the year, and captured a record breaking 42% of the American viewing public. Elvis was back! Hear Steve Binder recapture this iconic time recorded exclusively in Rotterdam, Holland on November 26, 2006.
Running time: 70 minutes.

Farewell To Bill Belew

Bill Belew, who headed the design team for Elvis Presley's stagewear and much of his personal wardrobe from 1969 to 1977, died of cardiac arrest yesterday after a prolonged illness. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to any of a number of Bill's favorite charities per his wishes. A list of those charities and other details will be posted here as soon the family provides the information. Bill Belew and his design team made an outstanding contribution to the definition of Elvis Presley's personal style on stage and off. Belew designed the now iconic black leather suit Elvis wore for the key components of his all important 1968 "comeback" television special, along with his other outfits for the show. The collaboration continued through the 1970s, including the famous jumpsuits Elvis wore on stage, most notably the American Eagle jumpsuit made for the global television concert event Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii, via Satellite. "You could be daring as a designer and put anything on Elvis and he could make it work. And the simplest outfits that didn't seem particularly remarkable on the rack transformed into something spectacular when Elvis put them on. He was that beautiful and powerful a presence. As a wardrobe designer Bob Mackie had a perfect muse and a perfect canvas in Cher. I got to have that in Elvis." - Bill Belew Bill Belew played a special role in Elvis history and was a beloved friend to all of us at Elvis Presley Enterprises. We will miss him.

Birthday Week 2008 Event In Memphis

Essential Elvis, the UK's largest Elvis Presley organisation, is planning a wonderful party to commemorate what would've been Elvis' 73rd birthday, and the venue is as exciting as what's on offer.  Join other fans at Vernon Presley's former home on Dolan Drive, just yards from Graceland, to enjoy some great music, film and delicious birthday cake on the evening of January 8th, beginning at 6pm.

You'll be able to mingle with Elvis' friends, associates and colleagues.  The EE:UK team are currently finalising details with some very exciting guests, but this year they have a very unique theme - In The Beat Of The Night.  Yes, they've tracked down some of Elvis' old police buddies, including ex-Memphis cop Tom Morgan and retired Shelby County Sheriff Gene Barksdale.  You'll also get to meet ex-Sheriff and Mayor Bill Morris, and even the current Sheriff, Mark Luttrell, has had an open invite.

Jeanne LeMay, Linda Thompson friend and Elvis' Graceland secretary, will also be there to meet the fans and to sign copies of her new book, Elvis, Linda and Me.  Along with others yet to confirm, Mike Freeman will be signing copies of his new DVD, Elvis' Memphis.  There will also be some interesting police paraphernalia on display including badges that once belonged to Elvis.

The entrance fee will be just $20.00 (that's just 10.00, if you're from the UK) per person, and you can pay on the door.

A Unique City Tour For Birthday Week 2008

Due to the success of their city tour in August, Essential Elvis is planning another all-day tour of Memphis on January 8th.  Bigger and better than anything offered before, the team aim to show fans a huge number of Elvis-related sights in and around the city - and all in the comfort and warmth of a luxury coach.

In August, a hundred excited fans were shown a total of 80 Elvis-related places over a period of 8 hours, and everyone had so much fun.  Andrew Hearn is personally organising and conducting the tour, and will be providing the commentary along the way.  You may know that Andrew recently released a book entitled Follow Me To Tennessee (
www.followmetotennessee.com) in which fans can learn about 125 Elvis sights in Memphis, along with accurate facts and stories by people who experienced those places with Elvis first hand.

The tour will leave, at 10:30am, from behind the ticket office on the plaza once the birthday proclamation on the lawn has finished.  The first stop will be at Elvis' Circle G Ranch in Mississippi, and then they'll progress towards downtown Memphis.  There will be a lunch stop downtown early afternoon and the tour will finish back at Graceland at approximately 5pm.

There's more exciting news - EE:UK have enlisted the help of a surprise guest, who will be coming along for the ride.  This person was a personal friend of Elvis' and rode around the city with him over many years in the 1970s.  So, you'll be guaranteed some first-hand tales of life with the King - making this particular tour very special.

Cost is just $40.00 (just 20.00) per person.  Please reserve your places as soon as possible as seats are limited, and the tour is expected to be very popular.  Email Andrew Hearn with any questions, concerns or suggestions at enquiries@essentialelvis.com.

The Essential Elvis team would be pleased to hear from you if you are considering joining them for either event.  It'd be helpful to have some idea of numbers, so booking in advance would be good.

Elvis Presley Leads the Early Voting for the Greatest Rock n' Roll Artist of All-Time

With a little over five weeks remaining to vote, Elvis Presley has an impressive lead in RockinTown.com's annual poll of the Greatest Rock n' Roll Artist of All-Time. The King leads Led Zeppelin and Evanescence, who are virtually tied for 2nd and 3rd, in the most recent tally. Last year's winner, Pearl Jam, is fourth while the 2005 winner, Nirvana, sits at 7th. Fans have until New Year's Eve to vote for their favorite artist.

"The 30th anniversary of Presley's death was this year," said RockinTown editor Mark Clinton. "Elvis has been gone a long time. So it's pretty amazing he still has a hold on a sizable audience." Led Zeppelin has consistently placed in the survey's Top 5 while Evanescence is the most current band to land in the Top 10.

Presley is the only 1950's star to make the survey's Top 50. 1960's legends The Beatles and Rolling Stones are at #12 and #22, respectively. "Whether you are talking about his '50s rock or legendary comeback, Presley's music and image obviously has enormous staying power," added Clinton.

There might also be another reason. The 1950s are seen as a peaceful and optimistic era (even though that's not entirely true). "And after the tumultuous '60s, the '70s were practically docile, or as close to the '50s as we'd ever get," said Clinton. "Elvis reached iconic status in the '70s performing sold-out shows in Vegas when he wasn't touring. So he's directly associated with two of the better decades - at least in memory. When times are uncertain, people get nostalgic." A complete list of the Greatest Rock n' Roll Artists is available at www.rockintown.com.

What you can find on the 112 pages of never before seen pictures is that the foyer, the living room, the dining room and even the jungle room has changed a lot since Elvis died.

What you will see here for the fist time in print is the red Ludwig XV style rooms that were installed in 1974. More than half of the pictures were shot in 1975. Elvis girlfriend from 1972-75 Linda Thompson takes the photographer on a tour through the house. The rest of the pictures were shot after August 1977, with several of them right after Elvis died and around the time of the opening of Graceland. Apart from the unique pictures the book is also filled with quotes from the people who were there in the 1970s.
The pictures in the book are from the collection of the mega Elvis collector Sherif Hanna. The well informative text in the book has been written by Megan Murphy. You will also find quotes from well know persons like Linda Thompson, Sandi Miller, Nobert Putnam and others. Dont miss this unique chance to travel back in time and visit Elvis home in the 1970s.
Welcome inside Graceland!

Release date December 10, 2007.

This is your chance to experience this legendary sound live with the very talented 5 time Grammy winning artist BJ Thomas! In the film, That's The Way It Is, Elvis mentions recording BJ Thomas' song, Just Can't Help Believin. BJ Thomas is well known for such hits as Hooked on A Feeling , Raindrops Keep Fallin On My Head, (Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song, and Just Can't Help Believing which Elvis also recorded. BJ has sold over 70 million records. He has earned 2 platinum records, 11 gold records and 5 Grammy awards. He has 15 top 40 pop/rock hits and 10 top 40 country hits to his credit.

The Memphis Boys created their unique sound which can not be duplicated at The American Studio in Memphis. They played on countless hits including Elvis' 1969 session at American. They played on such Elvis songs as Suspicious Minds, In The Ghetto, Kentucky Rain, and Don't Cry Daddy. The Memphis Boys played on more "hits" in Billboard's top 40 charts during a six-month period than any other rhythm section in history! Here are some other Memphians who have joined Elvis Unlimited's cast: Mark James who wrote Suspicious Minds, Always On My Mind and Raised On Rock which Elvis recorded. He also wrote Hooked On A Feeling recorded by BJ Thomas. And Blue Suede Heaven, a song about Elvis featured in the documentary, Elvis: The Echo Will Never Die.
Dickey Lee, another legendary Memphian has joined the cast of Elvis Unlimited's Back In Memphis show. Dickey's first recording was Dream Boy which was number 2 on the charts in Memphis for 12 weeks with much promotion from Dewey Phillips. In 1958, Dickey recorded and eventually became a producer at Sun Records. He worked with Jack Clement. In 1962, Dickey recorded the song Patches, the first in a series of tragedy songs he recorded. Patches was a million seller on the pop top ten chart. He followed this up with I Saw Linda Yesterday and Laurie ( Strange Things Happen). Both of these were on the pop top 40 chart. In the 1970's, Dickey moved to Nashville and signed with RCA. He recorded Never Ending Song Of love which was on the Country Top Ten Chart and lead to many hits for Dickey. Of the hits, his most successful was Rocky which went to number 1 as a country hit. Dickey wrote the song, She Thinks I Still Care which was recorded and went to number 1 in 1962 by George Jones. Elvis later recorded it in 1977 . Since then Dickey Lee has spent his time as a songwriter. Writing hit songs for such artists as Glen Campbell, Tammy Wynette, and Brenda Lee. In 1995, Dickey was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall Of Fame. Here are some of the songs he has co written. Let's Fall To Pieces Together ( Recorded by George Strait,1984); In A Different Light (recorded by Doug Stone,1991); Keeper Of The Stars ( Recorded by Tracy Byrd,1995); You're The First Time I've Thought About Leaving (Recorded by Reba McEntire,1983); I'll Be Leaving Alone (Recorded by Charley Pride,1977); He Broke Your Memory Last Night ( Recorded by Reba McEntire,1984) He has received 20 BMI Performance Awards, In 1976 he earned a Grammy and CMA nominations for country song of the year, In 1995 he won ACM Song Of The year for Keeper Of the Stars, In 1996 he was nominated for CMA Song Of The Year (Country) For Keeper Of The Stars. Most recently in 2005, he was featured in Jack Clement's movie, Cowboy Jack's Home Movies at the Nashville Film Festival.

Elvis Is Back Box-set

The book is made like the two Inside boxes. It comes in a box including a vinyl single, dvd, post cards and a certificate. The book is 152 pages. That is 40 more than the two previous ones. Elvis Is Back is all about Elvis return to the music scene in 1960. This year was a bittersweet one for Elvis. He was being discharged from the Army. Music had changed in two years and he was a little insecure about his music career. Yet he enters the sessions with such ambition and determination. He delivers a new mature diverse voice. It's Now Or Never and Surrender are truly challenging for Elvis. He proofs himself to be a truly talented singer and not just a flash in the pan. These recording sessions will forever stand out in Elvis history.

Its almost as if Elvis hit the ground running upon his return. The Colonel had been busy preparing for Elvis' return for a very long time. Not only were the recording sessions lined up, an appearance on the ABC televised Frank Sinatra Special and the filming for G.I. Blues were immediately following. His appearance on the Sinatra Special is warmly received by the public. Elvis innocently steals the show from Sinatra. Yet the repertoire between the two performers is very apparent. G.I. Blues is a very successful film for Elvis although Elvis hates being in uniform again. During this year, Elvis is also experiencing many changes in his personal life. Elvis has met Priscilla while in Germany. But he returns to his long time girlfriend Anita Wood. They continue their relationship where it left off before Elvis left for Germany. Vernon marries Dee, which is hard on Elvis because of the loss of his mother. Elvis also brings many of his friends from Germany home and the Memphis Mafia is formed.

But still the most important thing during the year 1960 is the amazing recording sessions. We have two incredible albums from this year, Elvis Is Back and His Hand In Mine. Elvis truly proves his ability as a performer. He conquers every challenge he is faced with and proves Elvis is back! Elvis Is Back includes many never before seen pictures from this period. There is even some very interesting ones from the filming of G.I. Blues. Those were not used in the Inside G.I. Blues book.
