Call me crazy, but the background reminds me of the stained-glass Peacocks in Graceland. Not that they inspired it, but... (I don't know how to express that in English)... it kind of "resonates" with the era?

I just read on Twitter that there was a 30 second trailer/TV spot shown a few times during Saturday Night Live last night. I'm not in U.S so wouldn't have seen it. Anyone see it?

You could be right. Is it possible the background could also be inspired by one of the jumpsuit designs? My knowledge of the jumpsuits isn't that great.

The layout is similar in design to posters for Luhrmann's last film "The Great Gatsby".

Take time out to just access this link. Without opening any of the clips, just add the views, in your mind. I have put the different accounts in order, from the most to the least views and there is no denying that this movie has gotten pretty good reaction. Even one of the soundtrack songs is nearing 2m views while half of the other has received a lot of attention nearing 40,000 views in a WB Italian account. Here is the link

It's absolutely a shot of Elvis... not sure why they used it but it's Elvis...

It could simply be used for the trailer.. but perhaps there's a small section dedicated to the making of on tour (which would explain the split screens) and they figured they could put some shots in here and there of Elvis himself without showing his face.

It's superb, I like how it draws butterfly wings in the back of EP.

A lot of significance here, they did it with work, reflexion and respect, obviously.

Oh yeah, I never noticed that. Plus you can see the wings from the dragon suit that form part of the decoration by his head

Has anyone else noticed that there hasn't been anything Aloha related in the trailers? I understand that it might not go into Aloha in depth, since it's a story and not a documentary, but Aloha Elvis is a pretty iconic incarnation, especially as far as the 70s is concerned.

All of the footage in this video is already available. There's clearly a bad sound edit around the 0:53 mark. If it was an official edit, it would have already been released on the Warner Bros YouTube Channel. Waylonvids is clearly a fan/hobby channel.

That's cool. I have very limited knowledge about Elvis' jumpsuits, so wouldn't have spotted that. Because Luhrmann's editing is so fast, one of the best ways to appreciate the visuals in his trailers is to play them at a slower speed.

Some details i noticed in both trailers in relation to a specific event.

In the first trailer, notice Kelvin Harrison Jr as BB King wearing a "checked jacket":

In the new trailer, there's a black photographer taking a photo of Austin with what looks like Kelvin Harrison Jr.:

The photo was taken by civil rights photographer Ernest C. Withers at the WDIA Goodwill Revue at Ellis Auditorium in Memphis on December 7 1956. The event was a charity fundraiser which included performances from Ray Charles & Rufus Thomas. Elvis attended the event with George Klein.

Seeing as BB King is being portrayed in the film, it makes logical sense that this documented meeting between Elvis & BB King would be used as part of the narrative.

I couldn't agree more. With all that attention to details, it wouldn't make sense that they'd skip it.
