Re: NIGHT OF THE DRAGON SA RELEASE
Ordered it yesterday. New sources for existing audience recordings are always welcomed by me, especially when it is Straight Arrow who is releasing them. Hopefully I'll get it somewhere in the coming days.
Re: NIGHT OF THE DRAGON SA RELEASE
Just received this new Straight Arrow release. Looking forward to their MSG 3cd which is in pré-order too!

Re: NIGHT OF THE DRAGON SA RELEASE
Just listened to the first cd (dinner show). Sound is very good and clear. All dialogue is clearly audible. There's a, very, short dip in sound at the end of 'Let Me Be There' and it seems the recorder got covered up for a short time. All in all a very nice show (comparable to other shows from this season).

Re: NIGHT OF THE DRAGON SA RELEASE
Well last night i listened to the first cd.Sound starts with Orchestra before 2001 and as opening riff starts the sound improves greatly to 'very good'. Show is also good (Help Me) is a request and songs are well sung but Hound Dog gets a really excessive goofing around intro from Elvis.Trilogy seems a decent and straight version and only one feature partially spoils the show- that is Elvis's meaningless and excessive talking. When he is not waffling on he is fine.

It meant something to Elvis.
And I'm sure had you been in the room that night you would have been on your chair cheering him on.

Re: NIGHT OF THE DRAGON SA RELEASE
Well i have now listened to the M/S from the same day.Slightly less talking and Tom Jones is introduced. Some songs like 'It's Midnight' are excellent whilst 'Trilogy' becomes uneavenly sung and a 'Disneyland' Version.at the end of 'don't be cruel' their is a brief drop in sound quality (otherwise sound is very good indeed) and Elvis closes with his Painting of the Angels and Liberace rings styled stories.Quite a good show but i reckon now the shows on 29th were better.
Again just like the Atlanta weekend cd's nicely packaged and decent sound- worth having.

Re: NIGHT OF THE DRAGON SA RELEASE
I don't know why, but it's been awhile since I've picked up and listened to an AR show. Yesterday, I received this one and "Atlanta Weekend." Listening to the first show from the 'Dragon' set reminded me why I began collecting ARs on CD. This is a fine show, with a nice set-list, and Elvis in good spirits and voice. It's amazing how the train would go off the rails in a few days. This was such a perplexing residency in Vegas. The stay began with such a promising start with such a landmark set-change as well as a change in his attire, and he even had a funky track climbing the charts in "If You Talk in Your Sleep." Suddenly, the pendulum swung the other way..
Looking forward to the shows in my latest parcel.

Re: NIGHT OF THE DRAGON SA RELEASE
Listened to the D/S again tonight.Singing is actually "pretty good" but Geez the excessive talking sucks! Sometimes he is even funny ( when he doesn't talk too much) I thought his 'joke' that J.D. was the original " Deep Throat" was very funny indeed

Re: NIGHT OF THE DRAGON SA RELEASE
It was interesting to hear someone ask him if Linda was with him during the dinner show. He replied something along the lines that she was not, but Sheila was.
If it weren't so long ago, I'd tell on him.
