Do You have a Elvis room? Here's some pictures of my RM.

Sat Jul 22, 2006 3:30 pm

I've been collecting Elvis since I was a kid...
I'm 47 now.....

I was lucky enough to have been able to
take over my older brothers Elvis Record collection...
that he had since the early 60's...

I took it over in the latter 70's......

Prior to taking over the collection The Beatles
were one of my favorite groups, I enjoyed many
other different kinds of music along the way
from Sinatra to Punk, some Blues, some metal
and even some Rap and POP.....

Basically if the music is good I'll listen to it,
Rock is what I prefer most of the time, but
now that I'm older a little easy listening isn't
so bad either.....

Some of the crap that Elvis recorded
in the 70's ironically I don't think so
much of it as being crap anymore.....

Funny how that happens??

I've mentioned on this board before
sadly I only saw Elvis once which was in 75'
in Vegas.

I personally would have wished I would have
been a liitle older and beable to have seen
him in 1970, but at least I can say that I saw him
at a age that I could still have a pretty good
memory an not be too young to pretend I really
understood what I was seeing.....

Anyway, its always been his music over all that
I have enjoyed the most over the years.

I've collected the hundreds of records,
hundreds of cd's to hundreds of books,
to the Beta tape to the VHS tape and
then of course to the DvD....

Plates and Teddy bear sort of stuff I personally never
collected it myself, but I usually end up with some of
that stuff during Xmas and Birthdays, not really my thing
But hey they were gifts.....

I recently started collecting about ten years ago Suits
to put on display...and some of the fake jewelry and
things like that along with Gold Record Frames.....

An trust me I don't wear the stuff, as I don't sing
an I don't have the looks nor care to do the
impersonator thing...

I just like collecting this sort of stuff......

The jumpsuit thing some of you might think its kinda
nuts and maybe it is but, since My first trip to Graceland
in 1990 I always thought it was so cool seeing the clothing
and the jewelry on display there...and just by accident
I fell into it, I try to usually only buy BnK Jumpsuits for
display as they are the closes to the originals, still there are
differences of course.....

I've been content with owning replica's and have never really
had the urge to buy something original as I personally feel
those types of things are best left for the museums for
everyone to see....plus I'm not in that league and don't
pretend to be either.....

With regard to the jewelry and suits or whatever I've
never wanted anyone to believe they are real items either
and I'm a little disappointed when there are some people
out there who try to impress people by suggesting what
they have as being real when its not.....

Sad really, when some one does that as it eventually
gets caught up with them sooner or later and in the
end they really end up looking like a fool....and are
not to be trusted...but hey if that's their thing nothing
to do with me....just as long as they don't make up
crap about me I don't care what they do.....

Well enough babble on my part......
Hope some of you like the pictures....
Its all Elvis........ :D

I wouldn't mind seeing what else some of
you have....too.

Re: Do You have a Elvis room? Here's what some of Mine look

PEP -

I really must say, ......... you are quite the "fan."

I also greatly enjoyed the collage of all the books you posted on another thread. As a fellow bibliophile (of all books, not just EP related) .............. I tip my hat to you. Great collection (most of the other books posted on that thread from others, though, are meaningless pap), your selection is truly substantive. A room without books is like a person without a soul.

Basically, one should indeed collect whatever interests them, brings them pleasure, & they can afford.

The sheer size of your "collection" attests to the years devoted to it (ie: the years of enjoyment ---> that's what it's ultimately all about).

I definitely hear ya on this one.

Much agreed, on all counts; very sad and even just downright pathetic.

They do it secondary to self-esteem issues, insecurity, & jealousy.

Ultimately, people in this category are not to be trusted - nor those who associate with them. (JMO).

PEP - you bring a lot to this MB. My thanks.

Your collection is impressive.

Once again N8 thank you for your compliment's....

Do you have anything you could show?

I know its not your thing, but if you have
something of interest I'm sure some would
like to see it.....

I know I would ....

Here's something some of you might be
interested in seeing, which I thought was
kinda neat, they are fake of course...

But I thought kinda cool nonetheless...
to have in ones collections...

That's very very impressive......I'm really far from it! I must have 300 elvis cds, 300 elvis books, between 1000 and 2000 mags ( including fan club mags ) ...And of course all the rest, dvds, memorabilia, etc...I thought it was a big collection but yours is just phenomenal ! A real dream
That's always something I find fascinating, thanks

Sat Jul 22, 2006 5:54 pm

Yes, I have an Elvis room upstairs. It's quite modest compared to yours, PEP. However, it is my place to get away from it all and listen to an FTD, an import or watch a DVD. It mainly consists of my computer, television, DVD player and stereo. I have several posters, pictures and a wall size Aloha tapestry (I believe that's what you call it) that was a Christmas present from my daughter last year. My walls are lined with CD's and DVD's that someday need to be counted.

There's nothing like coming up to this room to hear the newest FTD or import. For those who do not have their own room dedicated to their collection, there's nothing quite like it. If you have the means, do it. It only took my kids about a month to get used to living in the garage.

Sat Jul 22, 2006 6:32 pm

What a fabulous collection PEP!! Made my jaw drop :D
It was only recently that I could have a Elvis room. It still quite modest, as me and my lovely wife just moved and most of my collection is still in boxes or at my mother´s house. I also have a soft spot to replicas, and just recently acquired one of the fabulous B & K reproductions, the Red Lion. Here are some pictures:

Here Im keeping the books, DVDs, Boxsets, LPs...

Just like ROB said, is the perfect place to enjoy ths new releases. I´m loving every minute there :D

Wow! PEP... can I come over! :D

Sat Jul 22, 2006 6:52 pm

My first thought: HOLY F**K!

PEP... you must have a LOT of time and money. With my half dozen DVDs, CDs and books, two posters, one newspaper special, a cheap replica TCB necklace and an "Aloha Elvis" figurine keyring, you make me feel small. But I've only been a big fan for 2/3 years. And I am currently a student. So there's plenty of time to go! Oh, I forgot: I do have a nice replica of the Comeback Special jacket, too. (And I would seriously wear it if I could, but even though I'm skinnier than Elvis, believe it or not, I am too tall, and that thing is damn TIGHT).

denny and Sergio, your collections are hardly trifles, either. I wonder about some of the other peeps here. Everyone here -- and I mean everyone -- must be able to top me. I'm the bass line. Cryogenic on the fender bass. C'mon... let's see those pictures!

Sat Jul 22, 2006 7:01 pm

Very nice guys, really.

I do own a very large Elvis closet, and by the time I will relocate in September that will change to a whole room (or a shelf for starters).

Until now I only collected live concerts. Something makes me think, I should start collecting the other stuff as well.

Rob wrote:It only took my kids about a month to get used to living in the garage.

Rob, you should get used to add a "LOL" to your posts in order to make us know that there was a joke

I made the right choice.
