you basically asked the same question on the other thread about this rehearsal date. i don't think they have any better source, we've had tracks from this rehearsal before on a few releases and the sound mix wasnt great. I doubt there will be any significant upgrade unless they mix in the camera footage which imho sounds better.
I had not seen this footage of the Mary In The Morning rehearsal. Its awesome, and whats more interesting is that it is edited from several different cameras... When was this edit done?

Last week, i edited it myself. The first take was incomplete [footage cuts off at the part ''nothing's quite as bit**ing] so i had to edit the second take in which followed it, which also was filmed incompletely, part of the first bridge missing, so i had to leave that part out.

Yeah, I read that. But are you saying that there was only one camera angle for each performance?

No the camera angles were edited before hand im guessing at the time they made a raw edit for these.
Give me 15 minutes and i will have "Oh Happy Day" and a part of "I've Lost You" ready and you can see how the reel starts and ends

Yeah, that was my point. MGM already made an edit, wouldn't cost much in editing costs to add this to a Special edition bluray... =)

You're doing great work by the way. The edit of Twenty Days... is wonderful!

Is it possible some of the footage come from The Complete Works set?

The complete works set actually took the footage that was leaked before and put it together. They went as far as creating fake full performances by using far away or out of focus shots (something, the next step is love) or using alternate angles to make something complete when it isnt (the reprise to you've lost that lovin' feelin')

Thanks for the information. Nice work putting these videos together.

the ''Oh Happy Day'' reel
Thanks - the sound at the ending sounds better than what BMG issued. It's like BMG used a different audio source or filtered something out.

Riddle me this:

1. How was the audio of the Aug. 7 rehearsal recorded from a technical standpoint?
2. Was there a twin track or mono Nagra recorder of higher fidelity that feature vocals plus instruments more equally?
3. Was there a low fidelity reference optical track on the film itself to assist with syncing the Nagra audio in post production?
4. If so, is it possible that the poor audio fidelity of Oh Happy Day is due to the optical reference track being used and not the presumably superior Nagra source (assuming one was even recorded)?

The sound used on this video was all from the mag reel / camera sound.
This is why i said that sony/FTD has the option to do a matrix of their recordings together with the camera sound and it would probably result in better sound mixes. A similar approach was taken with ''Ghost Riders In The Sky'' from July 15th where Elvis was barely audible and they used a Mag Reel which contained Elvis vocal to raise it up in the mix.

Thank you. That's very interesting. Perhaps there is hope that Oh Happy Day could be improved after all if they sync'd up and blended the two audio sources.

If I understand correctly, are you saying the audio for the Aug. 7th was recording via two different mixes:

1. Mag reel / camera sound (mono?)
2. A separate audio tape (perhaps Nagra twin track stereo?)

Goin by what we have, yes that's what i'm saying. No idea about nagra twin tracks thou, but atleast a separate source.
