I have a few second-hand cd cardboard boxes (= non-glossy, non-plastified), that have gathered greasy spots and/or circles (good example is a recent 2nd hand Howlin’ Wolf Chess Box set from 1991, the big one), is there a gently yet effective cleaning solution, not involving complicated procedures, preferrably a spray or cleaning solution wipes, or even a seperate natural or chemical ingredient that, mixed with clean water and, let’s say, a micro-fiber cloth, can help reduce or get off, those oily or greasy spots on these very fragile (yet thick, but the color print on them is of course not thick, vulnerable and may rub off when confronted with too agressive cleaning fluids) cd cardboard materials ?
Perhaps something exists, but only for areas on the cardboard that have no ink, to be treated ? So that at least some of the greasy stuff can come off ? Anything is better than nothing, because it bothers me, as long as the integrity of the cardboard surface and ink stays intact.
Now, it looks like on some of them, olive oil drops have been trickled on, and dried up. Or who knows what stuff. Looks dirty. Smells weird too, like an old attic. The cd, sleeves and big booklet look, smell ( yes, is important too), and sound good.
I have a few more like this one. IF nothing exists in this big ol’ world, then perhaps something lesser does exist, to at the very least, get some of that smell off and give them a slightly fresher appearance, slightly cleaner-looking ? Something that cleans and kills bacteria or fungus, I don’t know ....
Any suggestions ?

Joe Krein interview with Sherril Nielsen: "YOU KNOW YOU FORGET HOW GOOD HE REALLY WAS. I SAID MY GOODNESS. YOU KNOW WHEN YOU ARE WITH HIM YOU ARE SO WRAPPED UP DOING THE SHOW, BUT HERE NOW 20 YEARS LATER, I HEAR HIM AND REALIZE WHAT A GREAT TALENT HE WAS. HE WAS THE REAL DEAL.

Try looking on youtube for how to clean vinyl record covers... there are several videos on there for cleaning record sleeves and it might apply to CD boxes as well...
