Songs I wish E had NOT recorded...
Ref. to the thread regarding songs we wish E had recorded,
I find myself instead thinking about which songs I prefer he'd never recorded, such as
Old McDonald
Dominic
Scratch My Back
Queenie Wahine's Papaya
and so on...
What's yours?

... can you believe the man that started a music revolution actually sang this ...
Good job he recorded Confidence to redeem himself..!?
C-O-N-F-I-D-E-N-C-E has to rank very high on this list!
Roy Bennett and Sid Tepper must have been drunk when they wrote this crap!
And Elvis surely must have been on something, in order to get this so called song recorded!

I don't mean to be a complete cynic, but how you can you wish Elvis hadn't recorded this song or that song?? I mean, that's like saying I wish Mozart hadn't written this piece or that piece or I wish Michelangelo hadn't painted this or that. Not that I'm comparing Elvis to these two, but it just seems ridiculous to do this. For every person who hates Old MacDonald, there are probably hundreds who just love it (well, maybe not hundreds, but you get the point). familyjules wishes Elvis had not recorded Fool, but I happen to love that song and think Elvis' voice was near perfection.
One man's trash, is another man's treasure.
Tom
P.S. OK, I may have been way off on that whole Old MacDonald thing

Okay, since it's Friday and all...
Let's all sing along to this Tepper, Bennett classic!
When everyone thought the world was flat
Columbus said "It's round"
He went down in history
And America was found
'Cause
He had confidence
A little thing called confidence
There's no job too immense when you've got
Confidence
With a "C" and an "O" and an "N" and an "F"
And an "I" and a "D" and an "ENCE"
Put 'em all together and what have you got
Confidence
You'll be surprised what you can do
If you will only try
Remember the tortoise and the hare
Who had that famous race
The speedy hare wound up nowhere
And slow poke took first place
'Cause
He had confidence
A little thing called confidence
There's no job too immense when you've got
Confidence
You'll be surprised what you can do
If you will only try
How do you know that you can't ride a rainbow in the sky
You'll be surprised what you can do
If you will only try
All you need is confidence
A little thing called confidence
There's no job too immense when you've got
Confidence

Confi ..... Confi .... Confidence

Take it easy. Nice and easy. That's it. Good boy.
It's gonna be all right.
Now that you mentioned it, I feel a little dizzy!
Hopefully it's only a temporary thing!
It's good to know that I'm among friends here!
A nice weekend to you all!

My daughters love Old Macdonald! I have played it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over (you're still reading!) and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
OK, where's that sharp knife??

An oft overlooked apalling song in my opinion is Barefoot Ballad from the Kissin' Cousins soundtrack album. Now that is crap!!
I can't stand the film, but I guess perhaps E was supposed to be drunk on Moonshine or something when he sings this in the film - I can think of no other excuse (please don't disillusion me if that is not the case!!)
I much prefer CONFIDENCE to that one, but along with most sane fans I also despise Old Macdonald completely!!

Der - can't believe you did not know that!!!
Definition: Said to have originated in hobo camps during the early 1900s, mulligan stew is a sort of catch-all dish of whatever is available. It usually contains meat, potatoes and vegetables in just about any combination. The name indicates that its origins might come from Irish stew, but it's also often compared to Kentucky burgoo. The cook at a hobo camp responsible for putting this tasty concoction together was called a "mulligan-mixer."

Jules and a few others made some controversial choices.
I bet the '50s have some dogs we could have lived without:
"Lonesome Cowboy" (I used to like it but...)
"Steadfast, Loyal & True"
"I Love You Because" (for historical reasons only does it get a free pass)
"We're Gonna Move" (and other Civil War ditties..)
"Old Shep" ....
If nothing else, I give such songs plenty of rest ...

The only reason Elvis sang 'Steadfast Loyal and True' was cause it was to do with the film.Gregory Nolan Jr. wrote:Jules and a few others made some controversial choices.

Elvis sang 'Steadfast' cause they had to have a boring song so it could lead on to Elvis to sing'Trouble'.
So if Elvis hadnt sung that, the film wouldnt have made sense.
