Re: SteamrollerBlues' Alternate Covers
Looks good Steamroller! I’m glad that the original artwork for this release was at least a step up from some of their latest releases, their latest releases did have some awful artwork. Glad to see their artwork is getting better again. Shame they don’t use nightrider anymore though, he really was the king of artwork, and paired up with the king label of ARs! Why they pushed him away I’ll never knowSteamrollerBlues wrote:Quick edit of the upcoming SA escape.

Quick alternate for Live At The H.I.C. (White Star, 2004). Based off of SA's Burning Hot Tonight.

Re: SteamrollerBlues' Alternate Covers
Thanks, Gamma! I've sort of adopted that design style for some placeholder covers as well until I come up something better. Two other quick examples:

Re: SteamrollerBlues' Alternate Covers
I like those a lot! The original art for Strike Like Lightning was awful, I don't have the release personally, but if I ever get it, I'll be using anything you can come up with over the SA art!

Re: SteamrollerBlues' Alternate Covers
Well, Gamma, I think I've finally come up with a cover for that particular release:

Re: SteamrollerBlues' Alternate Covers
Did up a cover for the upcoming Ragdoll release -- I opted to use a photo from the night before in Cincinnati (if dated correctly) as I don't have many photos of Elvis in the suit he wore on the 28th (I believe it's called the Nail Studded Suit?) and the ones I did have I felt suited the back better. I may rework the back cover at some point.

Re: SteamrollerBlues' Alternate Covers
Figured I'd have a go at the new Ampex release as well:

Matt Ashton colored the photos I used in his thread on the picture section of the forum -- he does fantastic work.

Re: SteamrollerBlues' Alternate Covers
Did up an worn LP style alternate cover for Elvis Today. Thought it might be nice to try out something new. I've always been fascinated by the image I used for the front, and I thought using candids for the project would show how much different or better Elvis' '70's LP covers could've been. I didn't do up the spines, but if anyone would to use these covers for their own CD cases, I'll be happy to make them up. I hope you all like it:

If you have any requests, I'll gladly take a stab at them.

Re: SteamrollerBlues' Alternate Covers
Took a stab at a custom standalone Stax album concept, for a hypothetical release that would have replaced Good Times in the catalogue. Fun little project. I've talked myself into starting redesign work on some of the lesser '70s album covers, and will post them here whenever I'm finished. For now, here's Find Out What's Happening - From Elvis at Stax...

Concept design for a standalone LP cut from the Jungle Room sessions...

Re: SteamrollerBlues' Alternate Covers
Nice covers but the artificial traces of use become a gimmick.

Re: SteamrollerBlues' Alternate Covers
Thank you!
I can understand that totally. I don't aim to use it on my "regular" alternate covers, and I will upload the unedited originals seperately. I seflishly like it as it reminds me of the bulk of my own Elvis vinyl collection. I only have about 2 or 3 of these "fantasy LPs" left to get out of my system.
