Stranger In The Crowd 8-13 70 - Midnight Show
My "American III- Stage Fright" CD has "Stranger In The Crowd" listed as from the Midnight Show on 8-13-1970.
My FTD "The Wonder Of You" has it as Dinner Show is this correct or was this sung at both shows?

The FTD is correct, and the only known live performance.promiseland wrote:My "American III- Stage Fright" CD has "Stranger In The Crowd" listed as from the Midnight Show on 8-13-1970.

And it was definitely not done at the 8-23-1970 - Midnight Show.

And you're wondering who to call
For a little company
There's always me

It's a fine rendition, but would have benefited by Elvis getting more comfortable by doing it at more shows.luckyjackson1 wrote:Unfortunately not a very good onedrjohncarpenter wrote:The FTD is correct, and the only known live performance.promiseland wrote:My "American III- Stage Fright" CD has "Stranger In The Crowd" listed as from the Midnight Show on 8-13-1970.

Yup. And they should have left out the annoying horns at the end.drjohncarpenter wrote:It's a fine rendition, but would have benefited by Elvis getting more comfortable by doing it at more shows.luckyjackson1 wrote:Unfortunately not a very good onedrjohncarpenter wrote:The FTD is correct, and the only known live performance.promiseland wrote:My "American III- Stage Fright" CD has "Stranger In The Crowd" listed as from the Midnight Show on 8-13-1970.

And for Elvis' lyric change...

The ending is surprising. You expect a "cha-cha-cha", but Tutt & Co did it twice as fast.drjohncarpenter wrote:It's a fine rendition, but would have benefited by Elvis getting more comfortable by doing it at more shows.luckyjackson1 wrote:Unfortunately not a very good onedrjohncarpenter wrote:The FTD is correct, and the only known live performance.promiseland wrote:My "American III- Stage Fright" CD has "Stranger In The Crowd" listed as from the Midnight Show on 8-13-1970.

Yup. The first official issue of "Stranger In The Crowd" on CD was on That's The Way It Is 30th Anniversary in 2000, and the whole show first officially released in 2009:Toddman38 wrote:My Deluxe Edition 8 cd/2 dvd box set has him performing it, during the Dinner Show 8-13-70.
