Shaun Livesy, indeed that's a name from a very long past.

Of interest is the story about this little boy and what Elvis says when he bids the audience goodbye

Let Me Be There

Funny How Time Slips Away

I think I got it.
Yes, this does appear to be the same show that you have, although the reviewer incorrectly states that Elvis sang 'Heartbreak Hotel', which he doesn't on your tape.

As a sidenote, here is the track listing of the Greensboro concert I have in my files, from Shaun Livesey (there's a name from the past!) from thirty years ago:
Also Sprach Zarathustra
See See Rider
I Got A Woman / Amen
Love Me
Trying To Get To You
All Shook Up
Love Me Tender
Hound Dog
Fever
Heartbreak Hotel
Polk Salad Annie
Why Me Lord?
Suspicious Minds
Introductions
I Can't Stop Loving You
Help Me
An American Trilogy
Let Me Be There
Funny How Time Slips Away
Can't Help Falling In Love

It certainly was, and here is an interesting article about the tour which appeared in the 1974 "Summer Special" of Elvis Monthly:

I already did that in my reply, so was there really any reason for you to return to this topic other than to have another sly dig at Ciscoking! :facep:

No, you did not.

Your reply corrected the nomenclature for three dates, my reply fixed ALL of them. This is not a "sly dig" at anyone, it is about keeping the record straight, just as you tried to do.

I would appreciate it if you would discontinue your most recent attempts to smear my posts. Anyone reading this topic can see the effort I have made towards resolving the query, and all done before you visited.

Thank you.

I have to have audio to go by - I'm definitely no good at guessing :)
Anyone know more about the Monroe, March 7, 1974 AS?

After all, if someone lists out a "Monroe, March 7, 1974 ES," there must also be one from the afternoon.

I can only find information on an ES for the 7th, and a show for the 8th
Hmm, then maybe we shouldn't be referring to the Monroe performance as "Monroe, March 7, 1974 ES."

Only one gig means it should properly read "Monroe, March 7, 1974" so there is no confusion.

Another mystery is Monroe, March 7, 1974 AS. Any idea where that one might be hiding?

Cisco, did you come up with a [concrete] date?

When I get back home - I'll go through all of the replies to see what I've missed... Looks like a lot from just glancing.

The date stands ..100 %...a very strong and vibrant show..unfortunately the sound is not good...the recorder too far away in the hall...I have posted 3 sound samples..you can listen to...the story with that little boy just happens there before and after Funny How Time Slips Away..and you can hear Elvis saying.."he is better dressed than I am"....it fits perfectly...to the newspaper review of the show...

drjohncarpenter wrote: Heh, Sherrill makes no specific mention of this in the interview. It must have been quite a dispute, he left after just five shows:

3-01-1974 (Tulsa)
3-02-1974 (Tulsa)
3-03-1974 AS (Houston)
3-03-1974 ES (Houston)
3-04-1974 (Monroe)

Only 19 more to go!
Nielsen was there for the Auburn show on the 5th.

On the 6th, there were only two members of Voice on stage, and they were seated on the same side with the rest of the singers, which I thought was quite unique. :) I don't know for sure about the Monroe March 7th gig, but at least from March 8th onwards, Voice was back to 3 members, with Hallin subbing for the rest of the tour. Nielsen was back for the May tour.

By the way, thanks Keith for those old review scans! They're always an interesting read. :smt023

Yes, here is a short review of Tulsa on Friday March 1 1974 from Rex's "News Service Weekly" issue 142 (Nothing for the March 2 show)

and here is an article from "Elvis Monthly" from June 1974 (Issue 173) - Note: This article is the second time The Sweet Inspirations' new single 'Dirty Tricks' is mentioned, although in the March tour review above, it states that Elvis sang the song at one of the shows!

Great stuff, Keith, thank you. As the Mayor said in EOT, "When Elvis Presley comes to town it's quite an occasion, for any part of the country."
