Why would they be using the original Elvis in a bio pic featuring Austin?
God knows, but if that's not Elvis on the right, I'll eat my hat
I wouldn't be surprised if Luhrmann & his editing team put that clip in the trailer on purpose, just to see if fans would notice.
Some directors love trolling fanbases to see if they're paying attention

Actually i think that IS Elvis on the right
I think so as well. That looks like the actual gold belt he wore a lot in '72
I don't think so.

The advertisement says, on the top: by the director of the great gatsby

And on the bottom: from 22 June to the cinema

I don't think they would be advertising the original Elvis in a film ad featuring Austin Butler. Also, by comparison, here's Richmond, 1972:

http://elvisconcerts.com/pictures/c720410.htm

The band is wearing black. If this is Richmond, then it is slightly inaccurate as they are wearing white here.
But you dont see that in the shot. The left one IS austin.. but the right screen IS elvis
Why would they be using the original Elvis in a bio pic featuring Austin? That kind of decision does not make sense from an advertising perspective.
Possibly similar to Jolson sings again, a second though wonder if there might me some clips of Elvis as the credits roll down at the end

I just read on Twitter that there was a 30 second trailer/TV spot shown a few times during Saturday Night Live last night. I'm not in U.S so wouldn't have seen it. Anyone see it?

Priscilla a week or so ago raved about the movie all over her social media. After, Linda started quoting and liking Elvis fans who are annoyed that she is not included in Official Elvis events and projects. And now she says Lisa's endorsement is the only one that matter's to her. Linda has never mentioned this movie. It's not a stretch to say it's a swipe. Linda has complained about being ignored. Watch the things she posts and says and does not say..

Passive aggressive swipe from Linda to Priscilla there. This is likely the first contact between the two in ages. Linda said her and Lisa have not talked in years.

Your irrational hatred of Linda Thompson is a sickening display on this forum.

I know you won't stop, and neither will I stop calling out these despicable postings.

I did and it was a nice surprise. It was shown once, IIRC.

They ran a variation of the "Baby Let's Play House" clip, Austin in the pink suit.

It could simply be used for the trailer.. but perhaps there's a small section dedicated to the making of on tour (which would explain the split screens) and they figured they could put some shots in here and there of Elvis himself without showing his face.

Call me crazy, but the background reminds me of the stained-glass Peacocks in Graceland. Not that they inspired it, but... (I don't know how to express that in English)... it kind of "resonates" with the era?

You could be right. Is it possible the background could also be inspired by one of the jumpsuit designs? My knowledge of the jumpsuits isn't that great.

The layout is similar in design to posters for Luhrmann's last film "The Great Gatsby".

Take time out to just access this link. Without opening any of the clips, just add the views, in your mind. I have put the different accounts in order, from the most to the least views and there is no denying that this movie has gotten pretty good reaction. Even one of the soundtrack songs is nearing 2m views while half of the other has received a lot of attention nearing 40,000 views in a WB Italian account. Here is the link

Thanks. That's a fan made extended version (combining both the first full length trailer & the Hayride clip) so not official.

It's superb, I like how it draws butterfly wings in the back of EP.

A lot of significance here, they did it with work, reflexion and respect, obviously.

Oh yeah, I never noticed that. Plus you can see the wings from the dragon suit that form part of the decoration by his head

Has anyone else noticed that there hasn't been anything Aloha related in the trailers? I understand that it might not go into Aloha in depth, since it's a story and not a documentary, but Aloha Elvis is a pretty iconic incarnation, especially as far as the 70s is concerned.
