Just wait and see what pops up.
I think that works the best for me.
Offcourse, I also would like to see a great looking 8 CD/4 DVD box from any label with everyting from EOT.
It doesn't matter who it does, International or Boxcar or whatever ......
But in the mean time I focus on Elvis Live.
The best thing to come in 2010!!!

I'm one of those guys that paid over $1000 for my copy of lesser quality, cropped TTWII outtakes in a group with 12 other collectors (over $12,000 total paid) and it all came out to everyone else in better quality 2 weeks after I got my copies.
Tempted as I am, I would not try that again BUT I would definitely buy this Elvis live dvd and any other that has something new.
I think that the best way for the collectors who paid a lot of money for this footage to get their cash back is to release a factory pressed dvd that is appealing and affordable to collectors. 1500 copies sold at $20 per disc each would certainly recoup anyone's investment in On Tour outtakes and yet not be a money grabber that would attract Turner or EPE.

Rock Legend wrote:A bit underwhelming to see him go through his old hits in such a disinterested manner…. The difference in Elvis from TTWII to EOT is staggering. In the aforementioned movie, he comes across as charismatic, funny and genuinely interested in the music & his musicians… During the EOT rehearsals, he just seems so detached… possibly depressed or medicated or both. There’s not the same sense of fun or the same involvement in his music. The sunglasses are also a nuisance in EOT, as you miss out on a lot of the facial expressions. It’s almost like he’s hiding his face from the cameras.
As for the release of this footage in small doses, in general I don’t think it’s wise to reward the bootlegger for exploiting this footage like this. There’s probably hours and hours of EOT outtakes, and I for one don’t really feel like buying DVDs for only 15 minutes of ‘new’ footage. I’ll probably just settle for a copy or a download, that’s good enough for me. At some stage, someone like International is bound to do all this footage justice by releasing it in an attractive multiple DVD-set.
Well said in all facets.

Could partly be the fault of the producers, who say they told Elvis that they didn't want to repeat the "Wise Guy" filmed in "TTWII"....perhaps he was concious of that ?

I agree, Elvis looks and sounds bored.

He had just suffered a pretty darn major breakup, ya'll know. The last thing on his mind was rehearsing Don't Be Cruel, I'd think.

Nice to know some audience reactions before and during the show were caught on tape. Maybe for EOT? Food for thought.......

Shortly before the new edition of TTWII was released, there were advanced discussions about a similar re-do of EOT. That one was going to end with two or three songs from MSQ. The poor sales of TTWII put an end to that idea. Whether this is the footage they wanted to use I don’t know, but it’s a damn shame that the idea of a new edition of EOT never came to fruition.

And why would Elvis and the band NEED to rehearse "Don't be cruel", "Hound dog" etc? He had been singing these since 1969 and before!

That's fascinating and pretty good. Note, however, that the endings of both "That's alright" and "Proud Mary" are incomplete. I wonder if this is deliberate or the actual way the filming was done?

Ronnie needs to listen to this youtube clip of the tempo on That's All Right and tell us if they sped that up too! Wow that's fast!!! It's kind of funny that he made that comment about the MSG album because I've read quotes from him stating that, when he listens to TCB band 70's recordings, he thinks something along the lines of, "I would never play those songs that fast now."

The rehearsel sounds & looks like a run-through and quit uninspired. Maybe they played these songs for the film-crew, or on the director's indication.? Elvis is never stretching for any high notes and his singing is rather weak, but remember it is just a rehearsel. I am very glad to have this footage and really enjoyed it.!

The Madison Square Garden stuff is great.!
