Hey my friends,
Time for another Battle of the albums poll.
This time, we'll be looking at two of Elvis Presley's best and enduring movie soundtracks, and one bonus with Danny vs Tonight's all Right For Love songs.

I like the 'G.I.Blues' album but most everything on the 'King Creole' album is in a different class. The 1960 version of 'Blue Suede Shoes', though more laid back to the 1956 original will always be a better choice than 'Steadfast, Loyal And True' to this listener.

Just looking at the two title tracks.
The structure of the song ''King Creole'' is not comfortable. Mainly due to the presence of the brass section. We are talking about the version of January 15, 1958. A week later, January 23, 1958 and without brass section, creating more openness.
''G.I. Blues'' is immediately catchy. And everything is right about this song. A certainly above average title song. And to think that the soundtrack "G.I.Blues" sold better than "Elvis Is Back!"
The entirety of both soundtracks, then I'll go for ''G.I. Blues'' minus the terrible remake of ''Blue Suede Shoes'', which by the way was out of date at the time of recording (April 28, 1960).

I can't participate as, for me, everything is better on "King Creole", including STEADFAST LOYAL AND TRUE.
If i give 7 votes to "King Creole", then I'm giving the rest to an album I don't really like, specially compared to my favorite Elvis LP.
Gotto pass.

No comparison really. King Creole is superior by miles.

It's like comparing aples and oranges, or whatever! Everything Elvis is not comparable to the other! That's why he survived so long, imo! That said, I like both!

Well if somebody pointed a gun on the side of my head and i was told i had to pick one fave album out of the two, i would give a slight edge to G.I. Blues soundtrack.
They're both great albums for different reasons - King Creole Elvis was at his pure, raw and rebel best and even touches on Jazz genre. G.I. Blues , Elvis was back and was looking every inch the clean-cut, polished and toned down the Rock n Roll records, well, apart from "Shoppin' Around".
Here's a tough one to pick from but yeah, i would pick G.I. Blues...
Lets listen to the two tracks back-to-back...

King Creole is rock 'n roll with dixieland and jazz influences. Even today this soundtrack sounds quite experimental, sensational, and quite different from anything else in the Elvis catalog. It is one of my favorite albums but so is G.I. Blues.
King Creole may be the better, more 'different' album: of these 2 albums G.I. Blues nowadays gets most spins on my turntable. I love the flow, the fun and easy listening atmosphere of the album, and particularly the catchy backing vocals of The Jordanaires.
