Does anyone know or read if there are plans to release on vinyl?
The first record could be the TV Special itself but all in stereo - never been released in stereo in its entirety to my knowledge?
Record two could be a selection of the production outtakes.
It could also be followed up with the standup shows?
Surely this would be FTDs biggest selling vinyl release …

Great idea!
I guess you mean with Memories and If I can dream in stereo? Because the others were indeed either released in stereo (trouble-guitar man, road medley and gospel medley) or in mono because they were recorded that way (all live tracks).
It could be a a very very good release. Hope the production and live outtakes are prepared for vinyl, meaning taking care of listening experience.

I’m all for your idea my friend. Would indeed be a killer album. I have that Indy, plus the Japanese and uk originals. How do you rate them?LesterB wrote:Yes - thats what I meantfrus75 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 10:26 pmGreat idea!

Re: ELVIS 1968 TV Special FTD Vinyl???
I haven’t heard the Indianapolis 1977 one yet but did have a first press Indianapolis press which sounded lifeless so I sold it. The UK and German ones are reprocessed stereo but sound ok for what they are but no great; haven’t heard the Japanese press - does that have the stereo tracks on it?
I also had the FM pressing which sounded dull to me so sold that on for not much money - now it goes for a lot of money.

Just to note: both "Memories" and "If I Can Dream" on the original stereo album master are in narrow stereo mixes [roughly 11 o'clock/1 o'clock on the pots].

ELVIS 1968 TV Special FTD Vinyl???
Sorry, I missed your question. The 1969 Japanese features everything in monaural. My UK version it’s the 1969 small label edition and it’s also in mono. Sounds nice too.LesterB wrote:I haven’t heard the Indianapolis 1977 one yet but did have a first press Indianapolis press which sounded lifeless so I sold it.
