"Friday night and everything's right for the weekend..."
Weekend / Eddie Cochran

Question for you collectors: Anybody who can shed some
light on the 78rpm labels Electro-Voice and Lancer...?
We think they both are Asian made , but have no further
info whatsoever? Help would be appreciated.
And a more serious note: E-cat, don't know why you felt
you had to fok this thread with posting the photo the
size of a poster on the previous page? Like to ask you
for the 2nd time around, edit it down to a normal size.
If you don't, please stay away from what were doing
here right now and in the near future.

Sorry Ger, he inadvertantly tried to include the attachment photo in his replay no doubt not realizing the size of the original. It doesn't even display in his post in my browser. Unfortunately that's the drawback to the large attchments and replying with quotes. I'm sure his intent was clarity in his comment and reply. No foul here. Jordan used to edit these when he was moderating, we have to do our own clean up now.

Agreed. E-Cat is a terrific forum member, and it's clear there was nothing but good intended, just like all the replies on this topic.

No worries EC. Its only appearing as a little white box with an x in my browser but if its displaying in others as full size you might want to edit it out of the post or it'll scatter the posts across their screens.

I'm not sure what the source is for the Jailhouse Rock script dated 1952, but either the date is an error or the script is a fake. The original title of the film was Ghost of a Chance; the film was retitled after the song, which wasn't written until 1957.

About 25 years ago I bought the script from
a movie memorabilia dealer in LA for 55 dollars.
The one shown on this topic is that particular
script. I sold / swapped the script years later,
and only have a scan of the frontcover left.
Browsing through the script at the time made
it clear similairities to the 1957 story where
there. The guys name wasn't Vince, and he
didn't become a succesful singer. But he went
to jail for man slaughter, and went on to
become a succesful tapdancer after leaving
prison... That's about all I remember from
the 1952 script 'titled "Jailhouse Rock".
A 2nd copy of this movie script is also in
existence. The title page of the MGM script
carried the title "Jailhouse Rock" again.. It's not
a fake / forgery as parts of the 1952 script
were the base for the 57 version...
Yes I know the songtitle wasn't written 'till
1957 by Leiber & Stoller. We all know.

Hi Ger and Roy, I am from the Philippines and Lancer and Electro-Voice were definitely Philippine made. I remember seeing some old Elvis records with that labels. Too bad lost all of them. Philippines used to release many singles from each album since many people can't afford to buy the more expensive LPs. As late as THAT"S THE WAY IT IS LP, 6 singles were released from that album and the biggest selling was Sweet Caroline, sorry I can't remember the flip side. I wasn't into collecting then. I just bought the LP and didn"t bother with the singles. I could bump my head on the wall right now.

I'm sure I had seen Poor Boy on the Lancer label. BTW I remember at the end of Party the song was repeated so instead of 1:26 it became 2:52 seconds.

Whoa, dudes! This thread is insane (as in insanely good) and I really appreciate you two getting it going and keeping it going, and providing a venue for others to post their own related gems. This topic's a good illustration of FECC's strength and potential, and indicative of the insight, knowledge, and willingness to share both and more that's the hallmark of so many members here. Excellent stuff, indeed.

Thanks!

I have no cool shots of related articles to contribute, but I think this says a lot:

Image

Actually, I'm not sure that says anything, but it's upped the Lego content of this site, and that's always a good thing.
