Two of my very favourite Memphis '68 session songs are missing, A LITTLE BIT OF GREEN and AND THE GRASS WON'T PAY NO MIND. I almost always hit repeat when these come on. Yet, they give us HEY JUDE, FROM A JACK TO A KING and IT KEEPS RIGHT ON A-HURTIN'. Perhaps the 100th anniversary will get it right?

I have really enjoyed the Nashville 70 and 71 box sets containing the undubbed masters (and outtakes) and will probably pick this set up too, even though I would much preferred it without the omissions. However, given the amount of money the 1969 to 76 studio catalogue, must have made RCA/Sony in the ensuing years, I do find it amazing that the majority of these masters have never received a proper remix. The last major mixing work (on some of the masters) seems to have been done in 87 for the Memphis record and the mid 1990s for the 70’s box set!

Surely most casual listeners are going to want to hear the originally released versions and these can definitely be made to sound better!
And I think about the 3 decade boxsets. Especially the 60’s boxset but this time with the masters that were found after it’s release. Down In The Alley as an example. As for the 70’s boxset, I always wished they had sticked to the studio material and release on another set the live material. One can only dream

Completely agree.

I think A Little Bit Of Green is a gorgeous performance, (Just as good as anything on From Elvis In Memphis, and I’d add, Inherit The Wind and This Is The Story to the set.

Poor creative decision, who came up with this BS?
Same for the few STAX edits while the waste of recording tape track "Take good care of her" is still included.

Did you hear the clip of “Danny Boy”… that mix with piano almost upfront is off the chain superb! I reserve the right to pass judgment AFTER we hear the set….

Agree 110% :smt045
Regarding Stax I really miss Thinking About You yet instead they
include Three Corn Patches and Take Good Care Of Her :(
The rest of the Memphis/Stax tracks that is left out is ok by me.

Correct me if wrong, but I am thinking Matt still would have worked with these songs as well so who knows if they may appear at a later date. Is the running times on the CD`s pushed to the max 75 - 80 min.??

That box was a huge disappointment to me.
And the sound on some tracks is not the best ( in some cases even poor)

i am buying this set just for the re-mix of the concert, everything else is just a bonus to me. The missing songs from the Memphis and Stax sessions will not bother me. Unless the re-mix (if they are re-mixed?) is so good it makes me want the rest this way.

I have reconsidered, I may need this boxset after all…

Looking forward to reading the reviews.

Hopefully the photos and liner notes in the booklet are the same quality as the completely awesome cover!

Unfortunately Ernst doesn't talk to the fans or has very bad advisors.
If he did talk to the fans, they would surely tell him to leave out the 1974 show, but keep all the American and Stax recordings.

Although the 69 and 73 masters can be included regardless.

I cannot understand why some 69 and 73 are being left out, it is ridiculous. Moreover, the 69 undubbed masters lack soul. Any Day Now undubbed sounds like a demo. Aimed at the general public, all Memphis masters should have been included, the 69 ones with overdubs.
It is a very unprofessional way of handling things. I will not buy this set.
