`
Buddy Holly's Greatest Hits
`
This really is a great "Greatest Hits" album - I got this as a Christmas present back in 1969 and listening to it whilst doing a needle drop recording. I often wonder how his career would have gone had it not been for the tragic event on February 3, 1959.

Between this video and the Elvis '74 Summer Festival kick I've been on lately, I'm gonna end up with one of those North Beach leather suits myself.

Dizzy Reece ~ Star Bright.1959
Latest of two Blue Note Classic Series reissues the theme this time being hidden gems.
Didn't know too much about Dizzy Reece other than he was a Jamaican born trumpet player.I have him on only one other record as a sideman but here is his second album(of 4) as a leader on the Blue Note label and what an album it is.Hard bop of the highest order with an A+ who's who of backing players.Hank Mobley on sax,Wynton Kelly piano,Paul Chambers bass and Art Taylor on drums,it doesn't get much better than that.Hope the other 3 will be put out in the future.
