And it was on this very day in 1963 and again 1975 that the music living legend, Bob Dylan waxed these iconic records

A couple of favorites from the Welsh rock band "Badfinger" from their 1970 album "Magic Christian Music". "Come And Get It" ,of course was penned by Sir Paul McCartney.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
i say on that Thailand EP which one on the above do you consider is the weakest link ?
I would pick "When my Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again". Should've had "Hard Headed Woman" instead

Re: What are you listening to right now?
While I haven't bought the disc yet, I've been enjoying the outtakes from Sinatra's L. A. is My Lady, which was released today. The session takes of Body and Soul are particularly interesting, because the song's only been heard so far in it's re-orchestrated version, released a while back. Now we get to hear the arrangement that Sinatra was actually singing to, and it's very nice indeed, and would have fit in nicely with the album as a whole. I particularly like the quote from (IIRC) Rachmaninov's 2nd piano concerto in the instrumental. That's rather neat. Not quite so neat is Sinatra's vocal, which he's clearly struggling with, but it's a shame he didn't return to it after working on the second half, as the first half is very nice indeed - but you can almost feel his embarrassment at lurching around trying to find his notes after the instrumental break.
As for the album itself, the title song is still, for me, the weakest track on it, and that's a shame as it's a very good album on the whole, and manages to sound quite unlike any other Sinatra album. I just wish they'd have ditched L A Is My Lady and substituted Here's to the Band instead.

Accused of being "a nerd in his 20s." I wish.

Now here's my favourite Dusty Springfield song - I Close My Eyes & Count to Ten - not that i've heard every single song she waxed. But this song penned by Clive Westlake (It's a Matter of Time, fame), you can never get tired of playing and listening! Awesome, just Awesome

Re: What are you listening to right now?
After hearing some excerpts sent to me by a friend I had to get this. Apart from the surprising results in seperation Elvis's voice seems so much more upfront to me and you could argue that you were listening to a different take of some of the songs. I am listenening through a very good set of headphones and staright from the off Santa Claus Is Back In Town blasts out with Elvis sounding like he is right in front of you singing live. I was a teenager in the eighties so going out to night clubs all Djs ever played were 12" remixes of the actual singles that you were used to listening to on the radio and that is exactly how I think of these MRS releases. They are just a remix of the original release. To all naysayers (I was One), I say give it a serious listen you may be surprised.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
Funny you should say that about a different takes, but I thought exactly that when I first listed to Santa Claus Is Back in Town. I thought I was hearing a different take hearing things never before heard and immediately played the track from one of the RCA releases just to decide. No, same take, but little things that could be heard made it seem like a different take.rollinson1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 10:52 am

real authentic historic archive this.
Here's the one the only living legendary Neil Diamond and his 1968 record as it was being played on the air on some New York FM radio station in May 1968. It's my pleasure to find stuff like this and add it here

A lot of what’s been happening lately is just older.
Doesn’t anybody listen to what’s current anymore?
