Re: What are you listening to right now?
Right now I'm listening to Rick Rowe's splendid 1988-remaster of the Blue Hawaii soundtrack. Never understood why Rowe quit working with the Elvis catalog as his work is unparallelled in terms of sonic quality, at least imho.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
Christmas time always invokes memories of albums that I bought in certain years during December and these are the purchases from that time of year in 1966. After Sunday dinner today, I just finished listening to two of the greatest albums, if not the greatest and creative albums from 1966 - Pet Sounds and Revolver.
When I first got Revolver in December 1966, I really did not like Tomorrow Never Knows....it was so far removed from what had come before by the group but now I totally appreciate the creativity that went into it - a recording that took three days to put together and complete.
So after a couple of glasses of wine at dinner, I just closed my eyes...and indeed turned off my mind, relaxed and floated down stream. Two really superb albums. California Holiday had to wait until February 67 when funds once again permitted the purchase.

I like a lot of Rick Rowe's work on Elvis' CD's from the 80's.drghanem on Sun Dec 22, 2019 10:20 am wrote:Right now I'm listening to Rick Rowe's splendid 1988-remaster of the Blue Hawaii soundtrack. Please join in on my thread regarding this issue of engineering and best/favorite engineers on Elvis' music on CD.

Love that album. It has a really good flow, a beautiful record full of true blue Songs and many remixed in a great way. One of the finest compilations by RCA till today. Like the coverartwork too.

Listening, back-to-back, to some of my all time favourite season-albums: Merle Haggard's "Christmas Present (Something Old, Something New)" from '73 and Mickey Gilley's "Christmas At Gilleys" from 1981.

OK, giving it a try...
You may draw any conclusion you like from that as anything you can imagine will not be as negative as my feelings about this album.
Give me “Clambake” any day over this.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
Got the new Dylan bootleg series set for Christmas, so in between Christmas music, this is playing now. Dylan and Cash really seemed to get along as evidenced here, and having Dylan on his show in 1969 boosted Cash's cool index up plenty in the eyes of many. Its a great set. Dylan never sang better than he did in Nashville 68/69. Highly recommended for fans of both artists.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
Keeping to my tradition of playing albums bought in December or received as a Christmas present from a previous year, now listening to Blondie's great Parallel Lines album from 1978. This album contains some super tracks.
As an aside, anyone else noticed that some images uploaded prior to upgrade are not showing up correctly, if at all - had to reload a couple of photos from an earlier post.

Listening to this in anticipation of the upcoming TV special.
Can’t find a more comprehensive best-of album via iTunes (i.e. one that has one or two canciones and the Nelson Riddle songs).
