SOUTHBOUND
LUXOR LP 4931/3
Macon Coliseum, Macon Georgia : August 31, 1976
Now available on vinyl: SOUTHBOUND, originally released in 1998 and featuring the August 31 1976 show from Macon Georgia. The 7th tour of 1976 is not known as being the best tour in Elvis' career. During this particular show Elvis appeared demotivated. He was definitely struggling to get to the end of this engagement. Most likely the crowd never even noticed this as they go wild like always as Elvis delivered a mediocre performance.
Still, it’s a part of Elvis’ career that deserves a release on vinyl.
22 years after the original CD release it is time for a high quality re-release of this performance. For the very first time this show is now available on a high quality double vinyl set.
The show is newly remastered and updated in the best way possible! This release is very limited and is available in RED or BLUE vinyl presented in a gatefold sleeve. And of course the show is included on CD too.
For now this is the last reissue in the Luxor classic reissue series.
But………... be ready for some nice surprises in the near future.
Get it while you can and add this awesome LUXOR product to your collection.

40 GREATEST!
2 CD SET
The legendary PINK ALBUM is now available on a deluxe double compact disc set.
Elvis' 40 Greatest, originally released (on Arcade) in 1974 and UK's biggest-selling album over the Christmas period of that year, but along with all albums on K-tel, Ronco and Arcade, it was ineligible for the UK Albums Chart until 1975 because it was felt that heavy TV advertising and low pricing distorted the charts. It finally reached number one on the UK Albums Chart in 1977, and became the 10th best-selling album of the 1970s in the UK. It was originally pressed with a brown cover and doctored image of Elvis.
The 1978 re-release, was released simultaneously on black vinyl and a more expensive pink vinyl edition. The pink vinyl sold a stagger 250.000 copies MORE than the black vinyl. It is in fact one of the best selling Elvis compilation albums of all time.
Both the original 1974 Arcade and the 1978 pink RCA re-release were, despite its success, never released on compact disc.
But the waiting is over: housed in a stunning 6 panel digipack, Elvis' 40 GREATEST contains the 40 original masters from the 1978 album + as very special bonus tracks are added the original tracks from the 1983 UK edition of the "I WAS THE ONE" album, that contained overdubbed live and studio recordings from the 1950s and early 1960s. These recordings have never been released officially on compact disc.

WORK IN PROGRESS
THE GUITAR MAN ALBUM SESSIONS VOLUME 1 2 CD
In 1980 Felton Jarvis, Elvis' record producer for the last decade came to the remarkable idea to freshen up some of Elvis' recordings. The idea was to add totally new backing tracks to Elvis' voice. This resulted in the 1981 record release of "Guitar Man".
You hate it or you love it is probably the right thing to say about the album.
Felton was convinced Elvis would have loved it. The original album contained 10 songs (which all can be heard in a wonderful newly remastered sound quality on this new 2 CD set). But Felton worked on a bunch of other songs to see if they would suit the project.
This special 2 CD set contains many of those unreleased versions that never made it to the record. Also included are some unreleased unfinished versions of tracks that did make it to the final GUITAR MAN album.
The title track "Guitar Man" written and first performed by Jerry Reed was obviously one of the tracks that had to end up on the album. Jerry Reed was part of the original recording by Elvis in 1967 and now Jerry Reed was back in the studio with Felton Jarvis to work on the new title track for the 1981 re-release. Besides the guitar work he also recorded a "duet" version of the song. This version never made it to the album, but it probably should have. Felton finished this track most likely for his own pleasure or for Jerry Reed and it is one of the many highlights of this set. This is just an example of one of the many surprises you will find on this CD set. And all in a wonderful sound quality.
This wonderful 2 CD set is full of unreleased tracks like : Blue eyes crying in the rain, The fool, Susan when she tried, Help me, Funny how time slips away and many many more.
Felton Jarvis sadly passed away early January 1981 even before the album came out.

Re: Southbound, "40 Greatest" 2 CD set & "Work In Progress" 2 CD set
With what's released on the original Guitar Man LP and the Too Much Monkey Business cd, would the Guitar Man Sessions cd cover all of the 1980 Felton Jarvis sessions?

Yes Wikipedia states 1974, but I never saw a pressing from that year, 1975 only.
Elvis Forever was released 1974

Re: Southbound, "40 Greatest" 2 CD set & "Work In Progress" 2 CD set
Has anyone seen any place on the network where this bootleg can be purchased?
I only found this: https://www.ebay.pl/itm/Elvis-Presley-Work-In-Progress-The-Guitar-Man-Sessions-2-CD/333512602735?hash=item4da6e6746f:g:Vb0AAOSw8SdeQ9GJ

I've never understood why bonus tracks are added that are totally unrelated to the initial project. Adding the tracks from I Was The One totally spoils the entire concept.

Yes Wikipedia states 1974, but I never saw a pressing from that year, 1975 only.
Elvis Forever was released 1974

Oh wow. Maybe the german version came out later in 75. I bought mine in Germany immediatly after the Radio Spot was aired and on the cover 1975 is written. It was my first Elvis record... or the commercial was on the Radio again in 75 and I have bought a second release ....emjel wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 8:27 pmI bought mine in Woolworths in a suburb of Liverpool early December ‘74 and Hits from the 70’s end of January ‘75.Buddy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 11:47 pmMmmh as far as I remember correctly the original first release of the Arcade black vinyl/yellow Label appeared in 1975 NOT in 1974.elvis4life wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2020 2:57 am
