I admit, I've been enjoying watching these so-called "reaction videos" on YouTube lately. Ok, some of them are quite unbelievable, especially those that claim to be hearing Elvis for the very first time ... If you haven't lived in a hermetically sealed log cabin in no man's land with no contact to western civilization for the last 50 to 60 years, I would say that you're lying... However, some are quite entertaining and almost always very positive. A video moved me so much today that I wanted to introduce it here. Three young girls of different ages are watching "If I Can Dream" and their reactions to this song are absolutely adorable:
I've never watched any reaction videos, but from what I've heard about them, the viewers always seem happily surprised by what they're hearing/watching. Has there been any where they give a negative reaction?

Not many if any at all. I have really enjoyed these as well. If I Can Dream is the one that surprises most people. The videos from August 1970 are big hits. I love that they are introducing Elvis to another generation. Most of the reactors have no idea how good he was. They make me smile!
Naysayers on here have brushed them off as all fake. But everyone seems to really like what they are watching. And it's great promotion for the artists. Especially Elvis and especially the Elvis ones having to do with race. Because it shows he wasn't racist and a lot people have watched the videos. And the videos are hosted by black men and women. And it gets his best performances out there. What bad comes from this?
It is a great song. But the mix of the song is poor. Elvis vocal to upfront etc.
Elvis should have forced the movie companies that he is allowed to record at the Studio B (or a similar high class one) with Porter on the deck and the musicians he wanted to have. No studio had said "no".
So many really great movie tracks suffer from sub-standard recording technic. Thats really bad a n d sad.
A n d he had come up with more alternate song ideas when the movie stuff was too bad - as he did with Old Mac Donald or What Did I Say...
