Glad to hear the Blue Hawaii 4CDs will be released separately from the books a bit later this year.

The only way I am touching another MSG release is if they find the 9th and 11th on soundboard. Otherwise there is no point.

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
The Making of Blue Hawaii has my interest.
Like many of you here, I have supported FTD from the start and have every release to date...., The MSG release is just confusing to me....., I have the original on CD along with an afternoon at the Garden; I have the Legacy release, and I have the Prince From Another Planet release...., why do I need this a fourth time? Now, if they released the Sunday afternoon June 11th show, I'd be all in...., but as is.....,

Last year's Aloha From Hawaii was also a little odd, yet it turned out to be pretty damn fantastic. We're having a bit of a déjà-vu, aren't we?

Because is you don't buy it the above will no longer be true and you'll only own a pathetic 99.61% of releases to daterlj4ep wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 7:36 amThe Making of Blue Hawaii has my interest.

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
Pushed back and revised. Take a look at the latest vinyl Elvis Live 1972 which should have been a companion to the earlier EOT set.steve in sc3 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 4:45 amSo I guess the EOT FTD is pushed even further back or been canned?

They are talking about anniversary releases - not releases that contain technical glitches.

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
These two releases seem classy to me. I’m always welcome to new mixes. PFAP was very controversial back then, and I remember telling then that Vic could do a remix to be featured on the classic album series so everyone could have a modern aggressive “in the face” mix and an audiophile one.
And the book releases like jailhouse rock are great too; now, with Blue Hawaii, even more, as FTD is offering the fans just the audio later on.

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
The idea of having a separate release for Blue Hawaii music is fine, but what about the real hardcore fans who buy every release from FTD for their collection. I think they did something similar for Rockin Around Texas or whatever the title was, but that was when a 2 CD set was around 25 bucks. A 4 CD set for Blue Hawaii is likely to be 75 bucks plus shipping. I wonder what those collectors will do?

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
I’m still not sure why FTD did not put out the two (2) press conferences on the “Aloha” set !!! Weirdo’s man…Weirdo’s.rockinrebel wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:27 pmThanks for the info. I wasn't too far out then. I'm not saying that the press conference doesn't belong on the MSG set, but to include 20 minutes of spoken word audio on a stand alone disc seems like a cynical ploy to hike up the price to me - unless it's included as a bonus disc at no extra cost - but I really can't see that happening.EAP 35 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 4:54 pmThe runtime of the third disc is 20:31.rockinrebel wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 3:43 pm
How long is the MSG press conference? From memory I'm guessing about 15 minutes. If that's the case, there should really be additional music on the third disc, or it should have been a two disc set...
Re: Blue Hawaii - if the CD audio is released separately I would definitely buy it. I appreciate the work that goes into the FTD book projects, but in the current financial climate, they are far too expensive for me.

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
But don’t we see this all the time when these announcements are made about something that has been remixed. We get comments like "it should be awesome" or "about time….really looking forward to a great remix" etc etc, and then when the release finally arrives, people start complaining they haven’t got it correct for what "they" really wanted or expected. Someone or something is too low or too up front in the mix or the drums are in the wrong place or the backing singers should be on the right channel but now they are more centred. So now they think that the third remix of whatever the release was and that was done a few decades ago is the best out of the lot. Until the next time….frus75 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 9:18 amThese two releases seem classy to me. I’m always welcome to new mixes. Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
Looking forward to both. Am I the only one happy with the press con on disk 3? The audio that's out there is a bit muffled, so nice if someone can synch the new sound with the great ABC reel.

i'm guessing it's the Phil Gelormine audio, the ABC reel is not complete you would need the other cams to make just about complete

The press conference recording was apparently made by by Pål Granlund.

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
The shame in this for me is that like Aloha they've gone for a 8" box rather than the 7" Classic album for MSG

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
I just did a quick check on Keith's Elvis Sessions site and counted the number of "officially" unreleased takes from the Blue Hawaii sessions. I counted exactly 50 "official" unreleased takes - that's including ALL the "Can't Help Falling in Love" outtakes as well as the "Steppin' Out Of Line" outtakes.
By that, we can assume that All of the "Can't Help Falling In Love" sessions have been located and are included on this set. If not, then there are far less than 50 Unreleased outtakes, which is the advertising on this set.

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
I'm hoping they feature the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra playing Elvis' music during the interview and somehow has him singing it.

Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
I very much doubt you can assume anything. All of the missing takes are already out there, and have been for years. My bet is they've used these.RKSNASHVILLE wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 1:13 pmI just did a quick check on Keith's Elvis Sessions site and counted the number of "officially" unreleased takes from the Blue Hawaii sessions. Re: New FTDs: MSG & Blue Hawaii.
...remember me stating they might very well do this?? ....and to answer that last question you ask..."THEY WILL BUY IT AGAIN" because they are hardcore.emjel wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 9:23 amThe idea of having a separate release for Blue Hawaii music is fine, but what about the real hardcore fans who buy every release from FTD for their collection.
