I ordered from Elvis Matters and the tracking number info still shows this

After a lengthy wait, as I had preordered, I received a request this morning for additional shipping.
As did I. Not exactly thrilled by this development but it is still cheaper than Graceland Store by a fair amount. Now, I just hope the order is completed quickly.

Same here - waited weeks, just to be told extra shipping was required. Rigmarole followed. After refund, I immediately reordered elsewhere . . result, received immediate express shipping confirmation (essentially, the very next day) notice. So far, quite pleased. I have every hope I will receive quickly now.

I'm pissed. They edited dialogue and on a first glance I saw that take 18 of Slicin' Sand is missing (false start) even thought it's mentioned on the content-list. I need a

REPLACEMENT CD

for this. I'm really shocked and I'm afraid to check what else is missing. Gone is the dream of the ultimate release of Blue Hawaii, again. Thanks Ernst. This man has to be replaced.
...

So why the hell, we get here something complete on the concerts and the sessions are edited? I will never understand this way of thinking.
Because come fall we all wanna buy another issue of the Blue Hawaii audio with all the missing bits and pieces
Or maybe not.
None of the sessions sets are 'complete'. We are not going to get verbatim copies of the session reels - that's never going to happen.
And that’s because the tape machines were not running the whole time Elvis was in the building.

Yes - but that wasn't my point. The FTD CD's are not verbatim copies of the session reels, and to the best of my knowledge they have never claimed that they are. So irrespective of what might have been missed when the tapes weren't rolling, you are not getting unedited copies of the original reels from the RCA vaults.

What- oh no, but it was to be expected. Unbelievable how we fans are taken for fools. FTD was founded as a collectors label, it is completely incomprehensible why concerts are then shortened (for example: Live On Stage In Mephis, Pittsburgh), session dialogues are cut away or cut to other places. No collector wants this! A collector wants it as it was recorded, that's the difference between a collector and a mainstream label.

I'm also pissed once again. I was so looking forward to the box but now i must see it was again a mistake. So we still need the old TCB Blue Hawaii Session LP´s. What about sessions like Viva Las Vegas and Fun in Acapulco, we don't have any reference material and one take follows another, without dialogue. I think they cut out here a lot at these sessions.

There are many who don't buy the sessions because the takes are often not very different and that's exactly why it is absolutly a no go to cut out studio talk and false starts, that's what makes a session, it gives the feeling how it was in the studio, thats what fans want.

The Elvis fan community is not growing and many can not afford the high purchase costs for such a box set. If you save your money on other things to be able to afford the publications and then you realize that your hard-earned money is go away for a next product which does not keep what it promised, you are very very disappointed.

The box set itself is very nicely done, great pictures with fantastic print quality, informative and well researched text, another great book release from Pål Granlund. AND DAVID ENGLISH.

Sadly that the overall impression is now again destroyed by cut material. And it's not like there was no space, either it would have been 5 CD's or they would have simply left out the original album on CD 1. I think, we've certainly bought enough the original album masters in the past.

So once again, this is more and more not a collectors label anymore and i miss the respect for the fans who brings the money to the producers.

And Ernst - the criticism isn't new, but he stands above any criticism, without any communication with the fans who paid their hard earned money.

For the MSG Release i must say i was a little skeptical if another new mix of the concerts is needed but i have to say the mix blows your hair straight back and is really an enrichment. Luckily, the parts cut out in the box "Prince From Another Planet" were taken up again here.

So why the hell, we get here something complete on the concerts and the sessions are edited? I will never understand this way of thinking.

I hear you, brother. That seems to becoming a regular thing with EM... I had cancelled an order a while back because of it and I haven't ordered from them since. Adrian at elvis4sale is my goto now for FTD's... they're out of the UK and he always provides tracking immediately after shipping. The only thing I ran into with the Blue Hawaii book was the extra customs/duty charge from FEDEX but that's out of his control.

Don't know what you mean Doc. I instantly received a replacement for a Elvis Is Back CD which had a click my old ears couldn't hear. Now here are takes and dialogue missing that are on numerous bootlegs, MRS etc. .. I paid 200 Euros/Dollars for the definitive Blue Hawaii thing and again I need a bootleg to get the whole material. A replacement is neccessary. Maybe you pay and always take thing how they are. I don't. Not for 200 Euros.

Remember that recording machines were often turned off in between takes. You won’t hear what they didn’t record.

The Blue Hawaii set, like the Jailhouse Rock set before it, seems to have bits and pieces of audio missing or edited. Eliasson needs to be dropped from these projects.

I took a chance with elvis4sale and received the book Friday. I only had to pay $19 customs. I ordered Let me be there and the FEPBMT blue vinyl from Shop Elvis in the US and am still waiting! So I'll definitely go with elvis4sale from now on. Their price is reasonable for shipping to Canada.

Yes, keep posting the updates of your shipping (later keep the items sealed).
It's a thrill to read.

I am kind of glad I didn't both the BH set.
From what I saw the book doesn't impress me that much and the recording sessions on the CDs leave something to desire.

Let's save this poor topic from being locked.

The notes to the new FTD covering Elvis performing in New York in June 1972 are really good, from Ernst's introduction to Pål Granlunds personal experience at the June 9th press conference to the full transcription of the press Q&A and finally the late Phil Gelormine's thoughtful, detailed essay on the MSG event. Really well-done here.

This is a joyful release, some of our angrier members should pick up a copy ASAP.

:D

Yes, I completely agree with you on your assesment of the booklet and the notes. I was wondering how they would approach this set in regards to cover design, booklet and liner notes with a similar release in the back catalogue ("Prince from another planet") without much redundancy and I think they did really good with what they came up with.

This is one of the times were I honestly was a bit of hesitant when the news of the MSG shows as the next FTD release were announced. But I honestly couldn't be happier with the finished product in my collection and I'm glad I bought it.

Well done and thanks to all people involved in this project!

Excellent indeed.

Let's go Ernst!

You will be just excited to know the Big E is working on something :D
Hmm i wonder if it's the same project they contacted me about

I did buy (despite the high cost) the New York Madison Square garden package and it IS good!, however the sheer cost for audio I already have and a book of pictures I may not look at too much did not justify buying the Blue Hawai release from FTD
