If I may! It's very listenable. As I stated above, it's a good listen and most of all, imo, Elvis' vocal is up front! :smt020

You may hear it, and you may even see it on graphics! But, the listen is something else! But, to each his own! :smt020
Then again, you have the original, PFAP, LEGACY and now this!

While the new MRS mix is certainly great, the mastering is a sheer disaster. There was absolutely no need to compress this excellent sounding mix to the point where we are starting loudness wars of the 90s again. Due to the lack of dynamics we are unfortunately missing out on a lot of detail which was very much present in other MRS/Anesini projects such as the Aloha show. Not sure why they didn't let Vic do the mastering for this one, at least he knows what he's doing. What a disappointment, this could have been so much better.

Well, mine finally arrived and I’ve been listening to it for the last two weeks.

I was real apprehensive, but I got to say that Matt Ross really did a great job this time. And so we go with the mastering. Why they keep going with this Jan dude, God only knows.

"a sheer disaster"?

C'mon... Is it really that bad?

It’s no disaster, some fans are just not used to a more dynamic and louder experience.
We’ve been put to sleep for years.

This is a true concert feel, awesome.
Perfect mix and a touch of ambience really do these recordings justice.

After reading the multiple number of compliments from fans already on the excellent sound quality, why were you apprehensive?

Because I wasn’t really impressed with the mix featured on the Aloha FTD.

Problem is it has too much compression and ambience. It sounds like I'm sitting in the very last seat at the back of Madison Square Garden. I want it to sound like I'm sitting in the front row.

I think it's the best sound so far. The band's got a lot of punch and Elvis sounds powerful and beautiful.

Yeah, it’s essentially mastered like a soundboard recording. No need for that if you are working with a mix created from high-fidelity multitrack sources.

Hard to appreciate this new mix when the balance of instruments, background vocals, orchestra, etc. is all gone in favor of elevating everything to the same level.

The new Aloha mix doesn’t sound like that at all, you can clearly hear all the instruments and vocals and experience the dynamics of songs between softer and louder passages.

... "too much ambience"? :facep: I've heard it all now.

Unless you were actually there, how would you (or anyone else) know exactly how that concert sounded from the very last seat at the back of MSG, or how it sounded sitting in the front row?

Maybe some fans wanted this new remix to sound like they were sitting in row 18... lined up directly where John Wilkinson was standing.

I was going to buy it. But now after reading the negative comments, I'm going to stick with what I already own.

By sticking with what you already own, you'll be saving over $75.

I'm also sticking with what I already have (Prince From Another Planet), but a friend of mine did supply me with a CD-R of the new mix. :D

I think we had 24 positive audio reviews over here, and three negatives ones.
But judge for yourself.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but I suppose DakotaKid would rather save his $75+ for something else. smt179

Fought the urge as long as I could... but finally went ahead and purchased this set. PFAP has been my go-to since its release, and I have the FTD book with the June 9 show disc and several other issues of the CD as well. This release will most likely mark my final MSG purchase.

These shows have a special place for me, since we saw Elvis in Fort Worth on this tour and it was a real powerhouse performance... probably the last sharp, concert-edged one we saw. Elvis was going to put on his show, and he wasn't going to cater to you as an audience member; you didn't really have time to even think if you liked it at all until he was gone. MSG captured all that in its glory... I haven't listened yet, but I hope to in the next few days.

And I can't wait to drift back and just be a boy in awe of his hero again for an hour. I miss that so much sometimes...

If this is still available, at the current price, at Christmas I'll probably take this. Not bothered if I miss out though.

I just listened to the sat night E/S. from June 10th and it was during side 2 starting with the Impossible Dream that I started hearing pleasant music that I had not heard before, also a lovely sound on "For the Good Times", so without doubt an audio improvement. The liner notes were quite nice too.
