Re: A Look at Girls, Girls, Girls (1962)
From Box Office magazine, indicating Hal Wallis' intentions with regards to Laurel Goodwin and her being cast opposite Elvis in Girls! Girls! Girls!. Ultimately, her acting career was brief and unremarkable, but she always seemed like a very nice lady in interviews. Such as the Gates of Graceland episode below.

It’s not in my Elvis top ten acting movies but easily in my top 15. Just pure fun with an equally fun soundtrack. I play it often.jurasic1968 wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 8:39 pmA good film? No. A good soundtrack? No. Elvis was looking great, yes. Return to Sender and the title song were very good.

From the Kingsport, Tennessee, media archive. The State Theatre marquee in December of 1962, when Girls! Girls! Girls! was playing there.

Re: A Look at Girls, Girls, Girls (1962)
I must have watched GGG as a kid and have recently got about halfway through the film.
Elvis looks great, some lovely clothes.
As Greystoke wrote in his wonderful post above, the chemistry between Elvis and Laurel isn't there and they make an unconvincing pair.
The soundtrack is one I enjoy a lot and is probably my most-played along with Fun In Acapulco.

He was really well dressed in this one. Courtesy of the great Edith Head once again. Elvis looks terrific in his suits, and also in the more casual clothes we see him in at various times. Plus he was slim and vibrant looking.londonflash wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 9:53 pmI must have watched GGG as a kid and have recently got about halfway through the film.

The clip below is from the 1993 Academy Awards, where Catherine Deneuve introduces a tribute to Edith Head prior to the nominations for Best Costume Design (won that year by Eiko Ishioka for her stellar work on Bram Stoker's Dracula). And it's a clip from Girls! Girls! Girls! that's used with regards to Edith's work with Elvis.

Re: A Look at Girls, Girls, Girls (1962)
Girls! Girls! Girls! was ranked third in the Motion Picture Exhibitor's annual Laurel Awards for Best Musical. These awards were voted on by exhibitors with regards to box office success at their respective theatres.
The Music Man, which was voted first in 1963 with regards to this particular category, undoubtedly had some influence on Elvis's next film, It Happened at the World's Fair. With its Happy Ending finale surely emulating that of the Seventy-Six Trombones finale in The Music Man.
Seventy-Six Trombones from The Music Man
Happy Ending from It Happened at the World's Fair
From Paramount World, Elvis and Hal Wallis during production of Girls! Girls! Girls!, when Paramount's Swiss distributor, Jules A. Gendre and his wife, visited the film's set.
Also from Paramount World, but in Swedish. Perhaps somebody can translate.
From Motion Picture Exhibitor on December 5th, 1962, with Paramount's $80 million lineup of films on the horizon and giving mention to recent releases, such as Girls! Girls! Girls!, which is highlighted as doing "gratifying" business.

Re: A Look at Girls, Girls, Girls (1962)
Never cared for the movie or soundtrack but if released on bluray I might see it again.
Tried to watch it on dvd 20 years ago but quality even for a dvd back then was poor.

Re: A Look at Girls, Girls, Girls (1962)
for many years i did not realize that The Coasters recorded the song Girls, Girls, Girls. I enjoyed Elvis' version of the song and the movie. To me, his films were entertaining and fun to watch.

Because of love
The story goes that Elvis offered the song to Billy Fury during his visit to Elvis; he recorded the song on 6 may 1962 (after the Elvis' recording) for Decca in UK.
The version of Billy Fury was released before the Elvis' release on LP.

Song of the shrimp
On the French CD "Elvis chante Sid Tepper & Roy C. Bennett" you'll find a demo version of the song.

Re: A Look at Girls, Girls, Girls (1962)
The "Walls Have Ears" dance sequence certainly illustrated that there was some level of attraction between them, at least on Elvis' part.londonflash wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 9:53 pmI must have watched GGG as a kid and have recently got about halfway through the film.

The soundtrack is one I enjoy a lot and is probably my most-played along with Fun In Acapulco.
It is said that one swallow does not make a summer, but one erection does not always make good screen chemistry.
