Re: Question about mastering of the original LP It Happened At The World’s Fair
The Living Stereo title was not just another name for plain stereo. It was a specific rca process, which is outlined in the booklets with the living stereo classical 50 and 60 cd boxed sets. It isn't really the case with Elvis's recordings, but the living stereo series had a sound of their own, and that disappeared in the mid 60s when the series ended and RCA used different techniques. They sound different from, for example, the Mercury Living Presence discs or Phase 4 stereo Los from Decca.

Re: Question about mastering of the original LP It Happened At The World’s Fair
My stereo LP from USA has “LIVING STEREO” on the bottom = common version. My mono LP is imported from USA. The Nipper logo is stickered with “RCA”. (see scans)
On my LP is mentioned in the lead out groove :
PPRM 2727-3S A1
This means:
P = yearcode 1963
P = popular
R = 12 inch 33 rpm
M = mono
2727 = serial number
3S = third mold (after pressing thousands of vinyl the mold / master is replaced)
A1 = studio code for New York
Take a look into your US vinyl collection and maybe you’ll find “rareties”.

Every time a fascinating thread comes along with incredible information, it seems like they just come and go with no explanation or reason when it just starts getting good. Oh well.
