Fairly nicely sung by Elvis but not a compelling song at all. Better than "Girl Of Mine," among others, from July, but a definite lowlight from the December sessions (that, overall, yielded some of Elvis' best work from the '70s). I have a fondness for "Love Song Of The Year" but that song, too, is not a classic and is, if you stand back a way and look at it, kind of an odd song by any measure...still more interesting than "Mr Songman," though, which is the weakest spot on the Promised Land LP. Wasn't "Mr Songman" written by Donnie Sumner? Sometimes Elvis recorded songs as favors to people even if perhaps he shouldn't have ("Miracle Of The Rosary" leaps to mind and, if I recall, the putz who wrote that piece of crap, who should be sued by the Vatican for plagiarism, paid Elvis back by saying some snide things about him).
