An Evening With Elvis Presley

Post by Matt Ashton »

I wanted to do "An Evening With" concept album that cover the three decades Elvis recorded. It's the supposed to cover the ups and downs of relationships. I started out with just one album and quickly realised that there were far too many great songs that would have to be cut! So, I thought why not three albums?

I wanted to go for the K-Tel records album cover design of the early 80's, so yes it's a little bit obvious and caters for the masses, but oh did I love those K-Tel adds.

Let me know what you think?

Now this is something that would look pretty good printed.
Thank you, Matt!

Damn, that’s a pretty nice selection, and certainly something I could see as an official release, although I would include My Way (1977) as the final track of the 70s selection although that’s just my personal taste

"A Big Hunk O' Love" seems a little out of place on a '70s album to me, but it's your concept album so you can do as you damn well please.

I like these covers. But technically, 'My little friend' and 'Kentucky rain' were released in 1970 as singles, although recorded in 1969.

But overall great concepts.

Hmm, personally I was going for love songs and the ups and downs they bring...

Totally understand, I prefer the 70's version that's why it was put on that selection.

I was trying to keep strictly to the letter of the decade it was recorded. other than if it was re-recorded or on a live release.

Love letters is a good example.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good version of My Way, it shouts out triumph. Maybe I should look at a power ballads concept?
