Different Drum - Stone Poneys (Linda Ronstadt) (mono 45 single version)



First recorded in 1966 by the bluegrass band the Greenbriar Boys (listen here: ), this Michael Nesmith tune was the breakout hit for Linda Ronstadt. Backed by members of L.A.’s famed Wrecking Crew studio musicians, Linda was the only member of the Stone Poneys group that actually performed on this track. The longer LP version doubles the length of the instrumental break.

Track was taken from a AM Radio Station, DJ Edit, Mono Mix, Reel To Reel Tape and was put together for the station on November 18, 1979. The tape is 3M Classic, CL-7R120 on 7 inch reel, running at 7.5 I.P.S. and transferred to home recorded CD some years back. The mono mix is unique in the way it was processed from stereo fold down for mono AM playback.

Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy by BAD COMPANY (MONO Promo)



this superior, “hit” mono mix was available on promo 45’s only. All commercial copies were of the now common stereo mix.

This is a radio station promo of the original HIT MONO MIX released on Swan Song when this was a HUGE hit on AM and FM Top 40 radio stations in the spring and summer of '79.

I Really Don’t Want To Know by Tommy Edwards (1960)



I Really Don’t Want To Know (Barnes-Robertson) by Tommy Edwards, orchestra and chorus conducted by LeRoy Holmes.

Tommy’s final appearance in the national top-20 brought back the 1954 Eddy Arnold country hit, also a pop success that year for Les Paul & Mary Ford.

Song Went To Number 18 On the U.S. Billboard Hot-100 Chart In 1960.

Bumble Boogie by B. Bumble & the Stingers (1961)



Ernie Freeman (piano) and various ‘wrecking crew’ session musicians are featured on this instrumental based on the famous Rimsky-Korsakov piece “Flight Of The Bumble Bee.” The boogie-woogie treatment titled “Bumble Boogie” originated with pianist Jack Fina and was first popularized on his 1946 record hit with the Freddy Martin orchestra.

Abergavenny by Shannon (aka Marty Wilde) (1969)

Recording here as “Shannon” was English performer Marty Wilde (father of singer Kim Wilde), who put 13 songs on the UK pop singles charts between 1958 and 1962. The title subject Abergavenny is a Welsh town near the border with England.

Oh, Pretty Woman (Orbison-Dees) by Roy Orbison and The Candy Men, produced by Fred Foster (i.e. "the Come To Me Baby" version)


The reputation of Roy’s all-time top-selling hit as a true ‘pop’ standard was further enhanced by its well-placed inclusion in the movie score of the 1990 box office hit “Pretty Woman.” Stereo versions of the song include the line “Come with me, baby” as opposed to the “Come to me, baby” on the hit single.
