Old topic but wonder the same thing.
I have a 1980s mono song that I wish was in stereo but that never happened.

Re: Digitally extracted stereo
This is my take on "Good Rockin' Tonight" in stereo. I’ve been experimenting with Steinberg’s SpectraLayers for a while now—just for fun and personal enjoyment. I’m not trying to make money from these amateur projects, unlike some labels that have recently released similar work with disappointing sound quality.
P.S.: I had to upload it in MP3 format instead of lossless, as my work has been used without my permission in the past.

Pink Cadillac by Bruce Springsteen.
A favorite track but not the sound on the studio version.

Re: Digitally Extracted Stereo
I was experimenting with SpectraLayers this morning and decided to work on Pink Cadillac. It’s a nice yet subtle stereo mix, true to the feel of the 1984 single:
If you'd like a lossless version, feel free to PM me.

Never happened?
"Pink Cadillac" was recorded in STEREO at the Hit Factory in New York in 1983, and released in STEREO as the B-side to "Dancing In The Dark" in May 1984.
There is a variant MONO mix that appeared on a Japanese single.

(like the one on the Tracks box set) sound like mono.
If it's stereo, then it's the worst stereo mix ever—very narrow and, to me, almost useless.
Feel free to disagree, but I’ve never liked the sound mix on this track.

It was recorded as a rockabilly throwback, with a very heavy "Peter Gunn" theme guitar vibe.
The mix is meant to serve that idea.
Ray Anthony and His Orchestra "Peter Gunn" (Capitol F4041, January 10, 1959)
Cash Box "Top 100" #7, February 28, 1959
Billboard "Hot 100" #8, March 2, 1959
