Win8 Vid Driver Update: Fail. Fail. Fail.

About 10 times now. Can't enjoy picture section or YouTube.

So, it's been telling me to upgrade. Special program from Samsung. Fail. Again and again.

Not fun! Watching "Ancient Aliens" on cable is NOT FUN. Win8 ads promise fun.

Help.

Just a tip - when you install drivers in Windows 8 from third party (non-Microsoft) always save them to a folder, then chose "right click" and "run as administrator" or they will not write to the registry.

Many thanks. I first have to manually search the Samsung site for the correct driver(s) and avoid that program. It's supposed to ensure that you get the right ones.

Those driver programs to automatically search your PC to see if you have the latest drivers are not a good idea, as they rely on updates themselves of what the latest drivers really are.

He does, indeed! He's both brilliant, and the nicest person you could imagine.

Anyway, still immersed in the struggle, I used the usually pathetic Window driver search, on a different video driver than the NVIDIA; it updated and restarted, and now the screen seems pretty normal. The photos enlarge without breaking apart, etc. From Intel. I have no idea what that did, or why . . . but so far, so good. I won't "fix" anything else 'till it's broken. We'll see. Oh, man . . .

I'm sure as the OS matures, this will be less of an adventure!
