These uploads are such fun, and informative.

In this case, we see several fresh shots from the February 18, 1956 "Stage Show" dress rehearsal. Elvis is running down "Tutti-Frutti" and "I Was The One." VERY cool! I wonder who took them?

As for the article, I've never heard about an attempted assault outside the New Frontier in Vegas. But it doesn't sound entirely far-fetched.

I don't think these are from dress-rehearsal, Doc, only if he had a rehearsal (photo below) then he change his shirt and do a full dress rehearsal (with white shirt and tie) before the live show.

Almost all of the images I've seen for Elvis' '50s TV appearances, like the ones in the article, were not taken during the actual broadcast. This includes Berle (June), Allen (July) and Sullivan (September, October, January). I suspect a close review of the 2-18-1956 kinescope will bear this out yet again.
