In this case, I'm surprised to see Barbara Hearn was still on the staff of 16 Magazine, her connection to Elvis must have been golden for the publishers. The interview with Elvis is nothing controversial, but some of what he says is still interesting, reading between the lines. Given the conversation, it looks like Barbara spoke to him in April, after the Nashville session but before leaving for Hollywood to work on "G.I. Blues."
- His first date was with Betty McMahon
- He's not a "TV addict" (ha-ha)
- He wants friends he "can trust and depend on"
- He just saw "The Fugitive Kind" with Marlon Brando and was blown away by the acting
- He visited Gladys' grave on 3-08-1960 (Tue), second day home
- "More than anything else in the world" he wants to be "a really fine actor"
Interestingly, Elvis would soon meet writer Tennessee Williams, whose latest project was providing the script to Sidney Lumet's "The Fugitive Kind." The United Artist film almost certainly had a Presley connection in the character of "Val Xavier," as noted by outstanding blogger Sheila O'Malley, and Williams must have been thrilled to meet Elvis.

Thanks Fool, once again another cool post.
The folks at 16 magazine were Elvis fans from the start, you could pretty well
bet that at least one Presley topic would be featured in every issue.
