Interesting share. Notice Elvis is referred to as one of "the rockabillies" ... in 1964! It's not really a compliment.

The truth of the matter is that Presley's crossover, breakout year in 1956 helped to destroy country music's reach into the pop field, rendering it a niche market that it was still sensitive about eight years later, if this article is any indication.

Maybe they knew they weren't paying Elvis a compliment.I think that too that the country music was still sensitive about what Elvis did to Country Music.By 1964 Elvis was world's away from the Man that walked into Sun.Maybe they felt like they won the battle and took back Country Music because of how Elvis's career was going in 64.I guess Country did bounce back but maybe was not what it would have been if there had been no Elvis.
