Mid '70's advert. (Wasn't £5.50 mighty expensive for a book back then?!)

Maybe they were making Elvis look a little 'punky' seeing as how this new music was taking off around 1976!!!bray1977 wrote:What have they done with his hair there? It looks like he just got an electric shock. Very nice items Tony, thanks for sharing.TONY wrote:Another, from 1976;
Re: Rare original promo ads
I remember paying that amount of money for Lichter's "A Boy Who Dared To Rock" when it came out in softback and thinking it was the most expensive book ever. I've since paid stupid money for books (Tunzi and Shavers et al) but still think that £5.50 was the most money I've ever paid for a book.TONY wrote:Mid '70's advert. That's about how much an FTD re-issue vinyl version would be!
Re: Rare original promo ads - Scans for you
Interesting. Thank you. You have got to admire the double speak on the last add: his last stage performance - captured on record.

Re: Rare original promo ads - Scans for you
This is, I believe, from the late 70's. Note the term "superb songs" used to describe "Guadalajara", "Earth boy" and "Smokey mountain boy"!!!! LOL

Was this song included in a movie in 1976? Why release an old song? Thanks for posting so much interesting stuff!TONY wrote:Another, from 1976;

I got this Album as one of my Christmas presents in '77...My Mum and Dad paid £5.98 as the price is still on it, although my Mum and Brother tried to peel it off after I'd opened it and ruined the coverMatthew wrote:Now that's interesting right there. Mathew, that seems abit high to me, I remember going out with a £10 note on my 10th birthday and no way was it £50 in todays money.

Re: Rare original promo ads - Scans for you
I remember I couldn't wait for the UK issue of "Elvis in concert", so my friend and I went up to Vince Everett's Elvis shop in Short's Gardens, Tottenham Court Road to purchase the American import LP. I remember paying about £8 for it. Inside was a colour 4 page LP catalogue. I really liked this set at the time.Dan_T wrote:[q
