If my only context was the 60s movies or the post 1970 concerts and recordings, then I can understand their confusion.

I'm sure jealousy plays a factor for many but it's Elvis' image that not helping things either like how it was mentioned in the first posting… every time you get a clip about Elvis, it's the later Elvis,
The latest State Farm commercial playing here in the States just keeps reminding us of this…
