The Story of Elvis' Wallaby (with newspaper clippings)

Post by MikeFromHolland »

A while ago I downloaded this information from the net, but please, don't ask me where. I don't remember.

The Rome News-Tribune - June 13, 1957.
By Lee Belser:

Elvis Presley Gets Wallaby, A Kangaroo From Australia

Elvis Presley has a wallaby. And what is a wallaby? That's what Elvis wanted to kow when a strange looking crate showed up at MGM studios this week postmarked Sidney, Australia.

"Somebody came over to the set and told me I was getting a wallaby." Elvis drawled. "Boy, was I disappointed when I opened that crate and found a baby kangaroo!"

Read the clippings to find out the story behind the wallaby. And what happened to it (in the next post). Did you know Elvis died in August 1962?

Thank you Mike for the postings.
Connections between Elvis and Australia are very few it seems.

Yes, I'm afraid so. He always mentioned going on tour in Europe. Never the other continents...

Elvis Presley 1970
"Before you abuse, criticise or accuse - walk a mile in my shoes"

Rocky Balboa 2007
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits."

Nice of you, thanks. All credits to the unknown (to me) person of whom I got it from though.
