Improved sound: interview with Wink Martindale June 16, 1956

Post by MikeFromHolland »

.

If this was posted before, than please excuse me. A FECC-search didn't show any results and the video on YouTube has only 1.536 views till now. I know the audio was already available with some irritating background music, but with this recording that's gone now, and the sound has improved.

On January 8, 2015 on the Wink Martingale YouTube-Channel, the following message could be read:
The KING of Rock and Roll would have turned 80 today, and in his honor, I'd like to share with you a rare audio recording of the first ever recorded interview ELVIS PRESLEY did with me and Dewey Phillips on my "Top Ten Dance Party" show in Memphis, circa 1956. If you've got an Elvis fan in your life, please SHARE this with them!

And stay tuned through the end for a bonus interview. Elvis was kind enough to help me kick off my "Dance Party" show on KHJ-TV in Los Angeles. I interviewed him live via phone while he was stationed with the Army in Germany.
Here it is:

You're both welcome.

I just listened it in full. It's indeed a bit longer than before, George. A nice extra :D

This was first included on this cd release many years ago or is the one just posted different in some way?

Should this not be available in video as well, as part was seen in "This Is Elvis" ?

Yes, but I dare say the rest of that film is 'missing' in someone's collection!

Correct, Wink Martindale confirmed several years ago that at the time of the release it existed but after that it got lost.... Bye for now :smt006.

'Lost' my arse! So does anyone know if the interview on YouTube differs in any way from the one on the 1999 CD release?
