4th Well Known 1955 Summer pic - uncropped and 3D

Post by MikeFromHolland »

.

Thanks to ElvisAronPresley1935 we all know now where I found these fantastic uncropped pictures two or three years ago. I couldn't find the site anymore, I'm glad he did, for there is a lot more to be found there: http://client.pediment.com/elvis_memphis/incoming/Chapter%207%20Photographers/Speer%20Photos/

ElvisAronPresley1935: thanks again!

But I promised to come up with my fourth Speer pic, so I stick to my promise. As the other three were: this one is cleaned up a tiny bit as well.

As an extra, I also included a 3D (Anaglyph) version of the same picture, some subtle depth can be seen here. Amazing. As if he's really there...
You'll need your red/blue glasses to see the effect:

At the end of this posting you'll also find the depth map which was used to create the 3D effect.

As promised:

Thanks Mike, I appreciate it! I actually discovered the site about 3 months ago while looking for the well known early Elvis photo at Lauderdale Courts. I wanted to find the best quality so I checked all the sizes and chose the best one and voilà, there they were. I'm still baffled by how great the quality is, especially those early pictures. I bet whoever owns that site must possess the negatives. Just take a look at the Speer collection, I have a feeling it's the real stuff.

P.S. I don't know if you've noticed but there are two pictures missing from the collection

Thanks again!

It's been there for everyone to access since 2010, when I look at the given dates at that site. As I said, I found them two or three years ago, so they may be wider spread now than we first thought. Wished I had taken more notice at the time, so glad you found it again and shared it with us! It's the real deal indeed.

Have you seen that when you keep clicking "Parent Directory" and click that you even get to the content of many other books? Guess it's a leak to this site: http://store.pediment.com/pages/about (Pediment Publishing). Should they be warned you think?

On their site they use smaller versions of some photos to promote the book: http://www.pedimentbooks.com/store/product/elvis-presley-s-memphis/. You can even flip through the first part of the book: http://issuu.com/pediment/docs/elvis_memphis_pages_press__v2/15?e=0

I've seen that the Speer collection isn't complete indeed. Also the beautiful Gladys & Vernon picture is missing.

It's crazy to think it's been there for so long and basically no one knew about it. I've also noticed there are a few documents related to the pictures.

I had no idea about the books part, that's apparently where the pictures seem to come from. It's a shame about the Speer collection but there are also many other pictures that haven't been included. According to the book, some neighbour at the Lauderdale Courts filed a complaint against Elvis for playing the guitar too loud at night. Never heard about this before!

Is it me or do the the most recent posts date back to 2010 meaning there has been nothing new for years?
