A question for JamesVRoy. Are all these items from your own collection? i really like that signed thing from one of the nurses.

Greetz columbo
Hi Columbo (great show by the way, that used to be a favorite of mine. Remember the episode with Johnny Cash?)

No, none of the items are mine. I've only ever seen most of the items presented (the memorabilia, autographed, authentic or otherwise) in digital format. I have no collection really, aside from guitars and oddball souvenir junk.

A good deal of the photos (non autographed) I've handled from negatives or prints and did the scanning or had processed.

" ON THE ROAD AGAIN"
Thursday, May 3, 1956 - Las Vegas. This is the date i have, these photos was in discution right here, on FECC, some time ago. And here's a post from that topic: "These photos of Elvis having breakfast at the hotel are from May 3, 1956. On the newspaper is a note about Queen Victoria's official photographer dying. He died on May 2, 1956 and the story was in the papers the following day. In the pics are Gene Smith, Tom Diskin and Bitsy Mott as well as some girl and Judy Spreckles."

With regards to the post below, the shirt at the top of this thread is NOT the same shirt that is featured on Elvis' back in the magazine pics below. I am a HUGE 50's vintage clothes collector with a large collection of original vintage shirts ( which includes the Steve Allen Rehearsals & Train To Memphis shirt ). The shirt at the top of the listing ( 4th on the right? ) is what we call acetate material, which has an amzing glimmer & shine but does NOT have the holes in the material that the magazine shirt has. The acetate shirt also has the traditional 50's classic loop collar which the magazine shirt does not...... it has a frilly/curvy edged design that runs down the front opening of the shirt. The acetate one at top of this thread IS an original 50's shirt but is NOT the same as the one featured in the mag shots below. Sorry to disappoint.

No disapointment here, not at all. Thank you very much for the info, any new infos are welcome :smt006

About the DIG jacket, here's a photo from Ger Rijff posted some times ago here, on FECC Forum:
"Elvis shows his back to the camera man revealing the Dig logo on the back of a jacket he was given as a present. This black and white candid photo came from 'Dig' magazine contact sheets that turned up in the 70s. Dig was a teen magazine that lasted untill 1958. The many shots of Elvis in his Frontier hotel room are from Dig as well" (photo bellow)

Interestting. The photos though you've attached appear to be the same hotel room as the pix Ger suggests is some other hotel
Image which is different that the ones where the Dig jacket photos were taken.

The breakfast shots pretty much indicates Vegas, so it may be that he just wore the same shirt in two locations and the breakfast shots aren't really related to the ones in the hotel room.

This may be possible, of course...but, what about Tom Diskin? He had the same shirt in the hotel room photos / breakfast photos.

mrbthebarber, good to have you here. You know
your ( 50s) stuff! Indeed youre right, its 2 different
shirts. But the prize shirt shown on page 1 is Elvis'
as well... He probably had bought several shirts
that looked alike in one go, while still in the US
( Memphis? Hollywood? ) and brought them with
him to Germany in 58... Back in those years, shirts
like that were definetly not 'around' in Europa!
His shirts had been prize giveaways in several
contests by teen or movie type magazines before
the 'Mirabelle' one.
When Elvis went home in march of 1960 he left
behind boxes full of clothes and personal
belongings in Germany... I was once the 'proud'
owner of the pants we know him wearing during
the "I Want You I Need You" recording sessions
back in 56... Left behind in Germany as well.
They were surprisingly small... EP sure wasnt
Mr. Atlas build in size in those early days...
Also a pair of tan colored Italian type suede
shoes. The left and right shoe both in different
size due to his problems with a ingrown toe
nail... The men/boys who had to move Elvis
personal belongings the week he left for home,
were given clothes, shoes. etc as a souvenir
by Elvis... Some of those 'survived' in boxes
stored away in basements for 3 decades or
longer at the homes of the removal
contractors... True story.

Claude 91, before I forget: thanks for posting
the pix! Mucho appreciated. Columbo: thanks for
posting! Peter Falk, what a great actor he is!
Especially in the Columbo series.
Hilton, Before I gave my story on the different
hotel rooms to James yesterday, I tried to keep
them apart : who, what , where, why?
Im not a fan of pc screen watching and solving
mysteries... Too tiring for me. I looked at the
different curtains, lampshades, chair and sofa,
pictures on the walls... I gave up after half an
hour with a headache. And went by memory
( sometimes clouded ) , I remembered reading
captions to the hotelroom(s) in old US mags
featured with the photos posted by us all,
and they gave different locations for them,
like I did. Thanks for pointing out similairities
featured in the posted photos...
If indeed its all shot at the Frontier hotel,
could it be one room for Elvis and Gene, one
for Diskin and one for the girl ( his cousin? ).
I feel another headache coming up!

Ger ( out of shape EP detective) .

No June Juanico in Vegas, i don't know the name of the girl from the hotel room, just a fan.
And i'm not speaking for nobody, i'm on my own - like i said, i just collect the informations from every serious source i can find - and there are not so many, you know that. And here, on FECC, i found some very serious ones and i want to learn everything i can from here.

Hello again,

As promised the RCA promotion card. The card is autographed on both sides.
According the source where i bought it, the autograph is from 1959.
At least if they're real, of course when i bought this card 8 years ago the people told me that it's 100% real.

Any other thoughts?

To Tallhair:
Peter Falk is indeed a great actor...only it's not going well with the 81-year old actor.
He has Alzheimer.

Does anyone have a good scan from the Elvis Sails EP (front back and labels) only i do not mean the normal one but the one with another photo on front (German release).

Kind regards,
columbo

The brunette who spent a lot of time with Elvis in this period was Judy Spreckles.

June Juanico had met Elvis in Biloxi in the summer of 1955, and hooked up again with him down there in the summer of 1956.

Carpenter, Im capable enough to identify Judy
Spreckles myself, thank you very much.
I was refering to the dark haired girl ( Judy
was a blonde) smoking a cigarette, posted
by James in the first batch of hotel room pictures...

Are you really? Judy Spreckles "was a blonde"?

Not in Apr-May 1956.

Here's one of those photos posted by James, and to Elvis' left is brunette pal Ms. Judy Spreckles:

Judy, she of the dark hair, spent a LOT of time with Presley in Vegas.

geez, first you should correct the caption
underneath the photo of Elvis , Judy and
the boy lying down, carpenter. That's NOT
Gene Smith. Remember you were corrected
on that a while ago when the photo was
posted on the picture section?!!
Judy wasnt a platinum blonde, but a natural
blonde ( dark blonde if you like...) .
If you go by poor lighted photograps, Elvis
was darkhaired while in Vegas as well.
You dont have to smack that "Trust the
doc" thing in our face, every time you
post here, or on 666 other topics on fecc.
Its bloody anoying and untrue.

Colin, if you have some money to burn,
check with : https://www.theelvisshoplondon.com/
Chris has several copies of the 1956 Elvis mag
for sale at 40-50 each. Look for "1956+ mags/
paperwork" section. Its the US edition, printed
in much better quality than the UK one you had
as a greasy quiffed teenager... 8)
Check it out my man.
