TALLHAIR 2 wrote:geez, first you should correct the caption underneath the photo of Elvis , Judy and the boy lying down, carpenter. That's NOT Gene Smith. Remember you were corrected on that a while ago when the photo was posted on the picture section?!! Judy wasnt a platinum blonde, but a natural blonde ( dark blonde if you like...) . If you go by poor lighted photograps, Elvis was darkhaired while in Vegas as well. You dont have to smack that "Trust the doc" thing in our face, every time you post here, or on 666 other topics on fecc. Its bloody anoying and untrue.
Thanks for the gracious reply.

"Poor lighted"? What kind of lighting does one get in outdoor photography? Anyone may see she is NOT a "blonde" as you so dismissively wrote. Speaking of annoying, you really should curtail your accusations, as they are almost always incorrect.

If you had any kind of memory, you'd already know that my Gene Smith attribution was confirmed by two other members ON THAT TOPIC. It was you who got corrected, after claiming this fellow was BILLY Smith. Here, let's all take a peek -->

Meanwhile, we can only imagine what kind of a post you would have made if the shoe had been on the other foot.

Now guys, let's not have a bad day over hair, or rather a bad hair day.

The girl in question Image isn't Judy, regardless of the color.

speaking of that other thread, what color is it here?

Only one person had a problem, James. T'was not I.

Rijff made a snide reference to your batch of photos on page 1, stating that Judy was not in any of those, that she was a "blonde."

He was wrong, Judy WAS in one of your posted photos, with a full head of DARK hair.

In fact, despite the above INDOOR shot you posted, in NONE of my images -- or yours on page 1 -- does Spreckles have blonde hair, and that includes THREE taken OUTDOORS.

The gal smoking is clearly not Judy; could she be Bobbie Moore?

you twist things as always. By the way, you forgot
to mention the number of posts by me a.o having
been removed from previous 'meetings', making
you always look the one who's right. I have
promised James not to burn my energy on you,
and stay on topic. Youre not worth it.
I got better thing to do here.

Clear pictures of Gene are posted of him
sitting at the breakfast table with Elvis,
a.o. Check them out carpenter and take
your losses.

It's plainly obvious by this very topic that accusation applies to you, and you alone.

Interesting that these would be left behind in Germany. I would've figured Elvis to make sure he had these in his possession. Do soldiers get issued multiple sets of dogtags? Who is the owner of these?

More great stuff, guys.

Oakland! (the pix in the top one) Cool!

Interesting too in the write up they mention a hotel room in Inglewood and checking into a hotel room (not necessarily Inglewood) and is awoken by Tom. Then the pix I posted earlier. Not sure if they meant to imply those were from CA or just used them in the story.

I wondered about the dog tags myself Khoots. I doubt you're issued more than one set but they're easily stamped if needed. Never understood why anyone would cut them up. Might be the coloring of the photo too but I've never seen any that color before.

Chris has several copies of the 1956 Elvis mag

paperwork" section. Its the US edition, printed
in much better quality than the UK one you had
as a greasy quiffed teenager... 8)
Check it out my man.
Thanks for the info, Ger !

Don't have money to burn, though !

I was a bit young for the greasy, Teddy Boy hairstyle.

I went for the sort of grown-out-crew-cut, swept back, James Dean look........................

"WHAT A FOOL I WAS"

The original "Fool, Fool, Fool" acetate from 1955. For the first time a clear look at the label.
Elvis related memorabilia don't come more sizzling hot than this beauty...

"BROKEN TREASURE"

The story is, Elvis recorded "Nobody's Child" ( a real tear-jerker) for the Diskins as a special gift sometime in the 60s.
The acetate 'popped up' after their death, and landed in the hands of RCA.. According to Ernst the acetate ended up in pieces when sent from place A to place B... ( sigh).

Columbo, with regards to your autographed
RCA promo card ... I had hoped for some
response from others, but it's zero.
Ive seen Elvis' signature on photos from the
50s that are 100% genuine. Sometimes with
the y ending in a loop, and sometimes like
the ones you have...
The pencil writing on the front of your card
is non Elvis. Probably done by one of
his secretaries in Germany. The signature
with pen looks good to me... But Im no
expert... I would advice to enjoy what you
have. That's what it is all about in the end.
There's nobody on this board who can
give you a 100% hit or miss opinion...
In my opinion one can only be sure about
the authenticity when one was there, the
moment Elvis signed the photo, record
sleeve, mag cover, or whatever item.

You are kidding!!! Where the hell did this information come from, never heard about it before, and where did the photo come from?

This is a fantastic song, my favourite is by Billy Fury who in fact did two versions that I know of. I always thought he did it in an Elvisy style and always thought El would have done a great job on the song.

Hello again Tallhair,

Many thanks for the info, i also hoped for more response. No problem, i don't think it's easy to say if it's 100% real (just as you mentioned, there's only one person who can say that)

I'm also still looking for RCA "Victor" promotion cards, but they're not really easy to find. Even without autograph they're not easy. Sometimes there's one on ebay but the prices are way over the top for me (nearly $150-200 for one promotion card are not my prices)

p.s. are you still make drawings like you did in your books? if yes could you contact me about this?

To Roy:
Do you know the owner of the A Pocket Guide To France and the red cross item?

Kind regards,
columbo
