What that thing looks like is a 1950s crime scene photo.

The picture is no mystery, really.

We see Elvis backstage at the Olympia Theatre in Miami, on August 3, 1956. He and shirtless pal Bobby "Red" West are having fun wrestling around with the tour's emcee and comedian Phil Maraquin.

The photo might have been taken by Charles Trainor, who captured a lot of great images during this two-day, seven-show booking.


Notice Elvis' coat is seen hanging on the wall behind them in each of these photos.

If from Miami, it would probably be Charles Trainor's photographs, he took several on August 3rd. But the online sources for the three backstage that I found and posted indicate Jay B. Leviton, who was in Jacksonville. I'll go find my old Rijff books and see what I can find out.

Both places had dressing rooms, so it's one or the other.

The Rijff site shows this as Jacksonville, it matches the others:

And these photos are from Jacksonville. And no, he didn't change his tie with the one with stripes after these photos were taken

The credit to alerting us to Miami as the location should go to Mississippi. And perhaps someone else for first identifying that the image was genuine, and the names of the people in the photo.
