This may have even been taken on July 2nd, which marked the French chanteuse's 40th birthday. Elvis was 33 and looking good. He'd just completed his NBC-TV special, which would air in December.
Renaud first met the singer in 1959-60, when Presley was in Paris on army leave, and he caught her popular "Casino de Paris" revue then:

Fast-forward eight years, Presley had just completed his NBC-TV special on June 30th, and had about a week free before having to begin filming his next movie, "Charro!" Clearly, he spent a little time in his favorite vacation city, Las Vegas, and again enjoyed her "Casino de Paris" program, this time at the Dunes Hotel.

It was something Renaud had presented in Vegas from December 1963 to December 1965, and she'd just rolled into town in mid-June to again star in the show.

New Dunes Act for Line Renaud
LAS VEGAS -- French singing star Line Renaud returns to the headliner spot in Casino de Paris at the Dunes Hotel on Tuesday, June 25, replacing Rouvaun who's embarking on an extensive concert tour.
Now busily rehearsing her new act at the Dunes, Miss Line Renaud starring in the Versailles Room, led an ovation for ringsiding Red and he did likewise for the comedienne at the completion of her first show. Skelton opened the next evening at the Sands.
It was a Riviera first for Miss Diller, who was dressed in a spangled mini-costume with shocking pink accessories. She allowed as how she looked like "a thatched hut on stilts."

The summer 1968 return to the Dunes earned a nice review in the L.A. paper, perhaps it inspired Elvis to see it during his time off?

Interestingly, I also found that the cute photo of the two singers, it turns out, was cropped. Acting great Edward G. Robinson was also there to say hello to Line.

One wonders exactly how the chit-chat fared for this unlikely trio of stars.
"Où est l'hôtel?" Heh.
BONUS BEARD FUN
It looks like Elvis continued to vacation in Vegas when he wasn't working on his new film. A news report indicates he caught the Ed Ames/Jan Murray bill at the Riviera Hotel in mid-July, the booking starting on July 9th.
