If I had to guess who was Elvis' all time favorite female singer, I would say Mahalia Jackson.

Elvis probably liked both the Little Willie John and Peggy Lee recordings, although his 1960 master is very much learned from Peggy's masterpiece.jurasic1968 wrote:I think he liked also Brenda Lee-he recorded Fever.

Sorry for my mistake-he listened in Germany to Sweet Nothin' like Prisciila wrote in her book at their first date. So i think Elvis liked both-Brenda and Peggy.

No. Olivia Newton John.

Re: Anne Murray : Elvis Presley's favourite female singer
The only female singer I can recall Elvis speaking in public with admiration was Vicki Carr - I think introducing her from the stage in Vegas : I do not remember the exact words but he said something like " .....just like me she sings straight from the heart..." cannot recall him commenting on other female singers- he does mention Connie Francis on one of the home recordings " Who's sorry now"?
Re: Anne Murray : Elvis Presley's favourite female singer
I think he also mentioned Toni Arden and the song Padre once in the 50's, saying he liked it. Cant recall the interview.jbgude wrote:The only female singer I can recall Elvis speaking in public with admiration was Vicki Carr - I think introducing her from the stage in Vegas : I do not remember the exact words but he said something like " .....just like me she sings straight from the heart..." cannot recall him commenting on other female singers- he does mention Connie Francis on one of the home recordings " Who's sorry now"?

"From the gut" is the phrase he used on stage in 1974, when speaking of Vikki Carr.jbgude wrote:The only female singer I can recall Elvis speaking in public with admiration was Vicki Carr - I think introducing her from the stage in Vegas : I do not remember the exact words but he said something like " .....just like me she sings straight from the heart..." cannot recall him commenting on other female singers- he does mention Connie Francis on one of the home recordings " Who's sorry now"?

It was Linda Thompson who said Elvis really liked Anne's music, and she also said he really liked Olivia's music too. He probably had several favorites. Certainly Mahalia Jackson, Connie Francis, Vicki Carr and others were among them.

In an interview in the 50's (I don't know exactly which one) Kay Starr is mentioned as a favorite singer.

Elvis' reply to "favorite female singer?" at the 8-31-1957 Vancouver press conference is "Patti Page and Kay Starr."colonel snow wrote:In an interview in the 50's (I don't know exactly which one) Kay Starr is mentioned as a favorite singer.
