Re: Any love for "Kismet"?
The songs from those mid sixties soundtracks were poor for the most part, and it was a waste that Elvis was stuck doing so many of them, knowing what he was capable of. Having said that, there were still a few gems in the midst of all the garbage.

Yes, there are some ok songs amongst the garbage, the odd pretty ballad here and there, but i'm not blind that they are still mediocre material compared to what he was capable of.Lover Doll wrote:The songs from those mid sixties soundtracks were poor for the most part, and it was a waste that Elvis was stuck doing so many of them, knowing what he was capable of. If I have to choose only one song recorded by Elvis in 1965 this is the beautiful ballad "Please Don't Stop Loving Me".

Actually Mike, I don't have a fixed mindset, I speak in reality terms, something some people can't grasp on this board.MikeFromHolland wrote:jetblack wrote:

Your first comment on page 1 of this thread was: "Kismet, sadly, is as memorable as most elevator music. Most of Tepper and Bennett's work for Elvis, with few exceptions, was hack work".poormadpeter2 wrote:Listening to the song doesn't make it a fact. Judging by your comment, I guess you think "Kismet" is rubbish.

Re: Any love for "Kismet"?
I enjoy Kismet... Elvis does a nice job with it and the music is pleasant. It's a tiny beacon of light in a rather dark time soundtrack music-wise for Elvis. Nothing more, nothing less.

YOU said it as a fact.
I'm asking you, for the third time, to either prove it or give your reasoning as to how what you say about the song is a fact. You have been commenting for the last week on people's intelligence. Can it be that you don't know the difference between "opinion" and "fact?"

2: Is Kismet included in greatest Elvis achievements? No
3: Is Kismet widely known outside the Elvis world? No
4: Is Kismet a classic piece of songwriting? No
5. Is Kismet ever played on the radio by popular demand? No
6: Is Kismet going to be most remembered in years to come? No (only by EP fans who like it)
7: Is Kismet going to be highlighted in future documentaries? No (except maybe to talk about EPs lowest career period)
8: Is Kismet going to be released in 2016 and smash the teenage market today? Doubtful.
With all this it's fairly safe to say that there is evidence this song is rubbish.
Let me ask you a question: You think Kismet is rubbish why?

Because i'm a big Elvis fan and his good stuff outweighs the bad. In fact, his best recordings (54 - 62/68/69/) are the top of any music genre imo.Mike Windgren wrote:Hi there!! .

I see, it was a bit complicated. I'll try on your level:
1. Take your list.
2. Remove "Kismet" on EVERY line.
3. Replace "Kismet" on EVERY line with any other Elvis song.
4. Put that name of the Elvis song exactly on the spot where you erased "Kismet"
5. Check your list for any mistakes
6. Correct your mistakes
7. Now answer ALL questions from your list
8. See if the outcome tells you if the song is rubbish yes/no
