Is there any way to save a video project directly to an MPEG file from Windows Movie Maker - preferrably with no loss of quality from the origlnal source?
Alternatively, is it possible to manually slow the speed of a video in Nero 14 rather than have use a pre-set slow motion effect?

Re: Windows Movie Maker - MPEG
I sadley have no answer to your questions
I myself use sony vegas pro and havent used windows movie maker since 2007.
Vegas pro can do alot of stuff and has alot of export options like MPEG. So you might wanna look into that.

Re: Windows Movie Maker - MPEG
I love the 6.x Vista version of the stunning and brilliant Movie Maker. But the loss of quality problem was also a problem for me. Even the best conversion programs will trash your video quality. I have the one from Adobe, and it really makes a mess.rockinrebel wrote:Is there any way to save a video project directly to an MPEG file from Windows Movie Maker - preferrably with no loss of quality from the origlnal source?

I would say that for very short clips, it can work. But people will notice it beyond that.
Now, this refers to video you shot and obviously tried to incorporate into a larger project, right? Because if you upload directly to YouTube from your camera device, it's perfect.
The problem is very annoying because Movie Maker CAN accept what it thinks are genuine "movie" clips rendered in After Effects in .wmv format. It only just strikes out with your own personal video shooting. Very frustrating.
I am thinking about Vegas, as well. But Movie Maker, the REAL Movie Maker, is really quite astonishing - with the Pixelan add-ons. It gets a bad rap that it doesn't necessarily deserve. You render something to the .wmv format and it really knocks you out. Now, of course, for me, I'm talking about stills that give almost a 3D effect in After Effects. With a video, it's not so easy at all. Because with stills, you are creating a .wmv file, not converting one.
I don't know any slo-mo.
You may have to go to Vegas.

P.S. -- Do try out other conversion programs, though. There are good ones around.

Re: Windows Movie Maker - MPEG
I really like vegas. The recent version works great vegas 15.. its no longer done by sony but has been taken over by magix.. however the look is still the same which i appreciate.. its still sony vegas despite the sony brand gone now from it. It has a bunch of plugins you can add.. u can improve sound quality with it.. i split one track audio files into separate songs with it too using a little plugin (u can do it without the plugin.. but then ur files wont be named to what u want)
It has a bunch of render options and u can tweak those settings to. Yes mpeg support.. mp4's wmv's etc. I also appriciate it having flac support.

Yes you should get vegas, you can do everything with it, slow down some sequences, or change the format of your video, convert it to mp3, anything, and you can also change the quality, make it higher. Windows movie maker is so 2007
