Whats the true story behind this story? (1975 concert)
Now, I know that Elvis met with a blind girl onstage in 1975 and gave her a scarf. But theres additional dialogue about this encounter thats floating around. Sounds made up to me.

The 7-20-1975 AS (Norfolk) photos by Len Leech tell the story. Elvis kindly gave that girl a scarf. She may've been blind, although Mal Vincent's review of the show in the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot, "Elvis, The Eternal Star," does not report it.bmovies wrote:Now, I know that Elvis met with a blind girl onstage in 1975 and gave her a scarf. Its floating around on various Facebook groups. One of which is "The Rockabilly Guys" page. I do not know the exact source of where it originated from.drjohncarpenter wrote:The 7-20-1975 AS (Norfolk) photos by Len Leech tell the story. Elvis kindly gave that girl a scarf. What about the story of Elvis giving a young girl a gold cross necklace during that same tour? Is that one real?
I recall that story coming from an interview on Watermark's The Elvis Presley Story

Re: Whats the true story behind this story? (1975 concert)
That happened during the March '74 tour. When a scarf he had given to a girl was stolen by another woman he returned to the girl and gave her his gold cross necklace. IIRC that story is true.elvis-fan wrote:What about the story of Elvis giving a young girl a gold cross necklace during that same tour? Is that one real?

On topic: that conversation between Elvis and the little girl sounds totally made up.

That story was over the top. I needed a shot of insulin after reading it.

Her description matches what seems to be true, save the suggestion the little girl is blind comes from a secondhand source.elvisjock wrote:Here is Rosemarie Leech's story.
That said, why else would Elvis have spent so much time with her?

While I was busy rotating the photos, you were busy, rotating the photos.drjohncarpenter wrote:Her description matches what seems to be true, save that the notion the little girl was blind is a secondhand source. Apparently, the "conversation" between this little girl & Elvis never happened.
It would be nice if that little girl (if she's still alive) could be located so she could tell exactly what happened that night.

I'm thinking it came from the same box Gladys stored Elvis cherished hair clippings. There seems to be no end to fantasies, delusions and contrivances. In this case though, the story omits a critical detail. After wiping her eyes with Elvis' scarf drenched in his sweat, she miraculously gained the gift of sight. That scarf now is held in Lourdes for safekeeping.

That conversation never took place. As Rosemary Leech said, Elvis kept the microphone away from his mouth. I was there, it was touching to watch. Someone in the Return to Sender fan club, told me that she was asked what Elvis said? She reportedly replied, "it's between me & Elvis".
