It lacks a bit of self esteem due to some of the inflated ego keyboard-warriors that haunt it.

You are most likely visiting:
http://elvis-collectors.com/forum

https://elvis-collectors.com/forum *is* considered secure. But since you are not transmitting any financial details, there really isn't any reason to utilize it.

About a year ago, various leading browsers (Chrome, firefox, etc) began to implement a warning on *all* non-https websites, saying they were insecure.

But again, since no financial or PHI data is being transmitted, the issue is moot here on FECC.

Hope this helps.

I changed to the https://elvis-collectors.com/forum but sometimes it switches itself back to http://elvis-collectors.com/forum. But it's like you say, there's no usable info here so there's no worries.I just keep switching back.

How about our passwords; are they hashed and salted?
Hashing passwords is a way of taking a variable-length password and creating a cryptic, fixed-length password from it. You do this by generating and using a salt value . A salt value is a random value that you use to generate the hashed password.

- he's clearly a patriot that respects the flag and a very stable genius with a large a-brain(!). I'm of course being sarcastic because Donald Trump is a moron.

Fantastic question, FatherJack1980. They are. Without going into specifics - they are encrypted using a stronger algorithm than what exists in a "vanilla" install of the forum software.

P.S Your link appears to be down/dead.

Well, thank you for replying. ::rocks

Funny how the tech is sometimes, as when I click the link here it takes me to that page on that Microsoft website; guess technology works in mysterious ways :smt003 But the article is called "How to Hash Passwords", and when I search that term (with " ") in Google it's the second link
