It Won't Seem Like Christmas (Without You)

One of my favorite Elvis Christmas’ songs. There’s everything I like about the Elvis singing style: vibrato, gusto and emotion.

Sorry. This track bores me almost as much as it seems it bored Elvis.

Brings back good memories for me.

The 1979 UK single reached #13.

Somehow, it sounds forced. It is a song in the Elvis style - and has the Elvis vocal mannerisms - but it doesn't sound natural. Elvis is not relaxed and fails to convince in trying to sound like himself. The overall sound is not great, either.

I like the W. W. of Christmas album and this track adds variety; but, for me, it's just not as good as it should have been !

A lesser track on the 1971 LP. Elvis does not sing this well IMO. Too much vibrato and forced gusto and emotion, all continuing elements of his 70's voice, but at least it falls short of bombast. The natural singer beautiful singer of the 50's and 60's was gone, the forced unnatural one it seems was now present on every album.

While I do enjoy IWSLCWY... my favorite Christmas track from that '71 recording session is definitely this one...

..

It's just too damn short...

I like this song. Not a favourite, but nice to listen to.

I have to say, I've always disliked this one. He sounds, in places, like a pub singer trying to sound like Elvis.

Ahbutitwontahhh, seema like-ah christmas, ohhhhhwithoutyouoooo.....

Just doesn't do it for me, i'm afraid.

Nice song, but I'm not too keen on Elvis' voice on this track. Like DarrylMac said, Elvis sounds like an impersonator. It's like he's doing a parodic imitation of himself.

It’s easily one of my favourite Elvis Christmas songs, especially from that album. It’s one of the better vocal deliveries from said album. Elvis was in poor voice that year due to his ill health. He was sick a lot that year. Didn’t he have his tonsils removed, or something?

There were still beauties in te seventies, where he doesn’t oversimg. I agree with the opinion that Elvis’ abilities were having a difficult time in the seventies, but it is reachting too far to slam all his recorded masters becaUse of his approach in the seventies, imho.

Sadly, I have to agree. (not sadly because I agree with you, but because of the facts).
Good post.
