Classic early shot with Humes High friends Evan “Buzzy” Forbess and Farley Guy, my guess is circa March 1954.

This one is even better. He looked pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty darned good. He was only 16.

With friend Luther Nall, Loew's State photo booth, Memphis - circa summer 1951

That's a nice photo, but it's lesser quality than the one with Luther Nall, and Elvis isn't wearing a turtleneck, which I assume was the point of the topic. ;-)

For the curious, this is the correct attribution for your photo:

Image

With cousin Tony Eugene "Gene" Smith, Loew's State photo booth, Memphis, circa 1951
Notes: this is taken in the same photo booth as the portrait with Luther. Elvis is wearing different clothes but his haircut is similar.
Gene Smith was 16 at the time of this photo, born 11-28-1934. He must have been very undersized for his age.

Note: this is the SAME booth as the one with Gene, but Elvis is wearing different clothes.
Billy Smith over on facebook "The Official Memphis Mafia Group" is saying this is Gene, not Bobby. I've had it as Bobby all these years :facep:
So it's really Gene? https://www.facebook.com/groups/1315238121887231/

The FB group is private, unfortunately. But I've changed my attribution.

In 1951:

- Bobby James Smith was about ten (born 8-01-1941).
- Tony Eugene "Gene" Smith was sixteen (born 11-28-1934).

This is why I always felt the other fellow was Bobby. But Billy would know better than any of us if that was his older brother.

Also, I can see the face more closely resembles Gene, as this 1956 photo makes clear:
